Position Overview:We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Medical Assistant to join our Skin Center Boston family! The ideal candidate will be a strong team player with excellent communication skills who thrives in a collaborative environment. This position plays a vital role in delivering exceptional patient care while supporting our team of 3 providers and working alongside 3 medical assistants in a fast-paced and flexible clinical setting.Benefits:Starting salary of $22/hour paid bi-weekly on Fridays 105 hours of paid time off (PTO) for full-time employees Paid time off for the following holidays: New Year’s Day (1/1), Memorial Day (last Monday in May), Independence Day (7/4), Labor Day (first Monday in September), Thanksgiving (fourth Thursday in November), Christmas Day (12/25)Professional developmentSupportive and collaborative work environmentOpportunity to work with a diverse patient population in medical, surgical, and cosmetic dermatologyExposure to cutting-edge dermatology procedures and constant learning on the jobMentorship from experienced dermatology providers and clinical staffTeam bonding events once quarterlyRequirements & Qualifications: Minimum commitment of 1-yearPrevious medical assistant experience in dermatology or other medical office (preferred but not required) and certification not required Work availability includes Monday-Friday with daily flexibility of worked hours dependent on the day’s patient schedule Employees must be flexible to protocol changes for the betterment and growth of our private practice dermatology clinic Strong teamwork and collaboration skills – ability to work effectively with a team of 3 providers, 3 medical assistants and 3 administrative staffExcellent communication skills (verbal and written) - clear, professional and empathetic patient interactionsAbility to respect the privacy of others: patients and their protected health information High attention to detail, self-governance and organizational abilitiesAbility to multitask and prioritize in a fast-paced clinical environmentProficiency with EMR systems (ModMed experience preferred but not required)Professional demeanor and strong interpersonal skillsProfessional Development:Networking and collaborating with other health professionalsShadowing providers to develop medical knowledge and interpersonal skillsLeadership skills – Mentoring and orienting new staff when requestedManagement of provider/clinical workflowDelivering patient care in a respectful, culturally sensitive, and confidential mannerConfidence managing patients’ end-to-end care Develop strong patient advocacy Previous experience of the duties listed below are not required. These daily duties are shared amongst the clinical team throughout each work day. Clinical Duties:Room and manage patient schedule for the providers, gather medical history, and review charts before visitsAssist providers during consultations, assessments, and procedures (biopsies, excisions, skin tag removal, chemical peels, wound care, laser therapy, Botox, fillers, and cosmetic treatments)Scribe for physicians during patient visitsAssist with minor surgeries (prepping, setting up a clean surgical field, handing instruments, applying ointments, bandaging, and removing sutures)Collect and label lab specimens for testing (biopsies, urine samples)Sanitize and restock exam rooms, ensuring proper infection control measuresAdminister injections (optional) and apply topical medications as directedPerform wound and bandage checks, change dressings, and provide post-operative follow-up careAutoclave instruments and suppliesContact pathology labs, process patient samples, and document findingsEnsure all supplies, equipment, and treatment rooms are adequately stocked on a daily basisOrder clinic supplies and verify inventory check list Administrative Duties:Schedule and confirm patient appointments; assist in patient registration and check-in/outMaintain accurate patient medical records, EMR chartingObtain patient consent forms and record special patient needs/preferencesProvide follow-up communications with patients (via text, email or phone call) as needed Facilitate patient referrals, send prescription authorizations, and liaise between patients and providersData entry, filing, and distributing clinical correspondenceReview and update patient demographic informationSupport patient flow and clinic efficiency throughout the workdayClean and tidy patient and shared spaces Prior Authorization Duties:Submit prior authorization requests to insurance companies for medicationsKeep track, document in patients’ chart and follow up on pending prior authorization requests via phone, fax, and online insurance portals to ensure timely patient care Coordinate with pharmacies to resolve medication authorization issuesCommunicate authorization approvals, denials, and requirements to patients and providersObtain medical records and clinical documentation to support authorization requestsProcess peer-to-peer review requests between providers and insurance medical directorsHow to Apply:Interested candidates should submit their resume, cover letter, and references to vanessa@skincenterboston.com.
