Job Description

We are looking for an enthusiastic and dedicated individual to join our friendly team, to support us to provide a high quality and efficient Microbiology diagnostic service to our patients and users of our service.You will be working alongside Biomedical Scientists and Associate Practitioners, delivering high quality care for the patients of the York and Scarborough Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust.The post holder will be expected to demonstrate flexibility and self-organisation within their work and the department will provide training and support throughout.Receipt and sorting of samples into the departmentPre analytical preparation of samplesData inputting of patient information/requests onto the laboratory computerTelephone enquiry and results serviceAssisting in the general cleanliness and tidying of the sectionRoutine analyser preparation and operationRequirements Of The PostPrevious experience of patient data inputting and any typing qualifications are desirable, but not essential.Flexible and logical approach to work, good telephone manner, and team working are all personal qualities which are essential to this role.Trust Information Packhttps://yorkhospitals.pagetiger.com/hdjgxdOur BenefitsWe offer a range of benefits to support our staff including: Access to the NHS Pension Scheme, providing generous benefits upon retirement, as well as a lump sum and pension for dependants 27 days holiday rising to 33 days (depending on NHS Trust service) A generous relocation package of up to 30% of salary (capped at £18k) to support with relocation expenses for hard to fill positions where relocation would be an expectation to undertake the role fully.
