Job Description

Our client is a rapidly expanding global fintech/ payments company (authorized by the CBI) that is building out its Ireland based EU entity. The MLRO will be responsible for ensuring that all products, services, and operations comply with all relevant Irish regulatory requirements, with a particular focus on anti-money laundering (AML) and countering the financing of terrorism (CFT) obligations under Irish law. This role requires advanced knowledge of the Criminal Justice (Money Laundering and Terrorist Financing) Acts 2010 to 2021, relevant Central Bank of Ireland (CBI) requirements, and European Union AML directives as transposed into Irish law. The hire will serve as the firm’s MLRO and act as the primary liaison with the CBI and FIU Ireland, while contributing to the firm’s global compliance framework and supporting group-wide regulatory alignmentKey responsibilities:Ensure all Irish products, services, and operations comply with the Criminal Justice (Money Laundering and Terrorist Financing) Acts and CBI AML/CFT Guidelines. Monitor and interpret developments in Irish and EU AML/CFT legislation, CBI guidance, and industry best practice. Lead the implementation of new or amended regulatory requirements into business processes. Maintain all required Irish regulatory authorisations, registrations, and permissions. Complete all necessary CBI reporting. Prepare and submit notifications, applications, and correspondence to the Central Bank of Ireland and other competent authorities.Act as the designated MLRO, with responsibility for the receipt, assessment, and reporting of suspicious transactions. Oversee the investigation, escalation, and documentation of suspicious transaction reports (STRs). Develop, maintain, and regularly review the Irish AML/CFT Policy, ensuring consistency with group standards and Irish regulatory expectations. Serve as the principal point of contact with the CBI, FIU Ireland, and other Irish authorities on AML/CFT and compliance matters. Key requirements:Experience as a MLRO/ Deputy MLRO for an EU financial institutionAt least 5 years’ experience in a 2nd line compliance role focused on Financial CrimeSignificant experience of CBI interaction
