Reporting to the Technical Services Manager, this position is responsible for supporting and advancing the company’s enterprise network across data centers, branch offices, and field locations.RequiredThis position plays a critical role in the implementation of secure, scalable infrastructure solutions. The successful candidate will provide hands-on configuration and operational support, act as an escalation point for network-related issues, and contribute to project delivery and long-term planning. They will also back up the Senior Systems Administrator when required and respond to after-hours alerts related to network security or availability. The Network Engineer will be responsible for:Designing and managing enterprise routing and IPsec VPN tunnels to ensure branch connectivity and failover readinessApplying Zero Trust principles and network segmentation for device-level access enforcementSupporting wireless network standardization across locations through centralized design and deploymentMaintaining network documentation, asset inventories, and configuration backup processesLeading infrastructure refresh efforts at spoke sites, including switch, firewall, and LTE installationServing as an escalation point for network troubleshooting, mentoring team members in issue resolutionAdministering telecom services, including VoIP systems and role-based entitlementsSupporting audit, compliance, and PCI initiatives, including documentation and remediationCollaborating with internal teams and vendors on network deployments and rural ISP evaluationsResponding to after-hours alerts and participating in incident triage and escalation About YouCollege Diploma or University Degree in an IT-related field such as Computer and Information Sciences, Networking, or Information SecurityProven experience designing and implementing dynamic routing, IPsec VPN tunnels, and segmented enterprise networksStrong technical understanding of routing protocols, VLANs, ACLs, IPAM, and WAN/LAN design in a multi-site environmentHands-on experience with switch and firewall deployment, including lifecycle management and configuration backupsFamiliarity with Zero Trust principles, network segmentation, and NAC enforcement strategiesAbility to configure and integrate network alerts into centralized monitoring and SIEM platformsExperience standardizing wireless networks across distributed environments, including SSID/VLAN mapping and controller-based managementDemonstrated ability to triage and respond to after-hours alerts and incidents related to routing, connectivity, or securityCapacity to serve as an escalation point and coach team members through troubleshooting and issue resolutionExperience coordinating with telecom providers for fibre, LTE, and VoIP deploymentsPractical experience building and maintaining a virtual lab network to simulate configuration changes, test integrations, or perform R&DObtained a recognized certification in networking, wireless, or information security within the last five yearsKnowledge of compliance frameworks such as PCI and experience supporting remediation activitiesValid ‘G’ class driver’s licenseAbility to travel to remote sites and perform scheduled work outside of regular business hours when requiredWhat We OfferCompetitive Compensation4 weeks paid vacation Employer Health & Dental Benefits Group RRSP Employee Assistance Program (EAP) Healthcare & Lifestyle Spending Account Are you ready to power your career and make a difference at McDougall Energy?
