We are specifically seeking a Clinical and Legal Specialist to complement our existing Board members.Key ResponsibilitiesAs a Non-Executive Board Director, you will work as an active member of the Board to:Set strategic direction to ensure services remain person-centred, accessible, connected, effective, and safeParticipate in Board and Committee meetings, contributing expertise to robust and constructive discussionsProvide oversight of organisational performance and financial sustainabilityChampion inclusive, culturally safe, and psychologically safe environments for staff, clients, and communitiesSupport continuous improvement, innovation, and best practice in governance, quality, and riskRepresent MiCare in the community, including events and service visitEngage in ongoing professional development and contribute to Board evaluation and succession planningWho We’re Looking ForWe’re seeking a Board Director who brings:Clinical health or legal expertise with a focus on aged careEthical, independent decision-makingAbility to interpret financial reports and understand governance frameworksProven ability to foster equitable, safe, and inclusive cultureWillingness to question, challenge, and contribute collectivelyEmpathy, strong communication, and respectful engagementBusiness acumen and alignment with MiCare’s missionThis role requires a monthly time commitment of 10-12 hours including bi-monthly Board meetings (two in-person events in Melbourne) and bi-monthly Board Committee meeting.MiCare are seeking applicants who are either based in Victoria or Queensland.Preferred Experience & SkillsPrevious Board or governance experience in not-for-profit or related sectorsClinical experience with a particular emphasis on aged careLegal experience with a focus on aged careExperience in governance, quality, and riskSkills in clinical expertise, legal, stakeholder engagement, or business developmentMandatory RequirementsCurrent and active membership of the Australian Institute of Company Directors (AICD) or equivalent, and willingness to complete relevant governance training.Ability to satisfy all relevant background checks including Police Check, Working with Children, NDIS Worker Screening, Aged Care Banning Orders.Why Work for MiCare?You will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of MiCare and strengthening our impact.
