In this role, you will greet and assist job seekers, provide exceptional customer service, handle phone and in-person inquiries, and provide admin support.DescriptionWhat you’ll be doingPosition Summary: We are seeking a friendly, reliable, and professional Volunteer Office Help Desk Assistant to be the first point of contact for clients, visitors, and callers. In this role, you will provide exceptional customer service, assist job seekers with program information, and help maintain a welcoming environment. The position also requires the ability to calmly and respectfully de-escalate tense situations with individuals who may be frustrated or upset. The ideal candidate will have exceptional customer service skills, the ability to de-escalate situations involving irate individuals, and a strong commitment to protecting client confidentiality and sensitive information.Key Responsibilities:Greet and assist clients, visitors, and callers in a welcoming and professional manner. Provide basic information about employment programs, workshops, and services. Direct clients to appropriate staff or resources. Answer phones, respond to emails, and handle walk-in inquiries. Maintain an organized and tidy reception area. Support with administrative tasks such as filing, labels, inventory, scanning, and data entry. Use active listening and conflict-resolution skills to de-escalate situations involving irate or distressed individuals, ensuring a safe and respectful environment for all. Qualifications:Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Patient, empathetic, and able to remain calm under pressure. Experience in customer service, reception, or a front-line role is an asset. Ability to work respectfully with individuals from diverse backgrounds. WPM –35+ -Intermediate computer skills (Microsoft Office – excel, word, CRM, email) Commitment to confidentiality and professionalism.
