This position manages several Supervisors of the following departments: Lift Operations, Summit Guides, and Mountain Crew. This role will carry out management responsibilities in accordance with established policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work, performance management, and addressing guest complaints and resolving problems.Duties and Responsibilities:Key areas will be to serve as a strong leader for operations personnel. You are responsible for month-to-month planning for the team. Your skills at anticipating the daily challenges in a safe and efficient manner for our guests and staff is a key component of the positionIn this role, your main duties and responsibilities will be to ensure the safety of our guests and team is met in all areas of daily operationsHave the authority to make critical decisions that affect the operation in the absence of the Director of Operations & MaintenanceWork closely with the Lift Maintenance Manager to ensure collaboration and effective communication between departmentsAdhere to all operational and safety procedures, ensuring safe efficient operation of the liftOperate passenger ropeway for the purpose of transporting guests during public operationsOperate passenger ropeway for the purpose of transporting maintenance personnel during line workHave a hands-on approach and assist where needed in performing Lift Operations duties (start up of lift, scanning tickets, ensuring the safe operation of the Gondola, managing the parking lot, covering breaks, etc.)Oversee the Tube Park (seasonal), including staffing, logistics, and maintenanceEnsure that daily records are accurate, updated and organizedEnsure daily operations are performed in such a way as to ensure all safety standards and best practices are being appliedEmbody our value “safety starts with us’ and comply with health and safety regulations, participate in Sea to Sky Gondola’s health and safety program, and report incidents, injuries and unsafe conditions in a timely manner.Answer company information/emergency phone and provide information and initiate response as required and/or in the absence of the Director of Operations & Maintenance during scheduled works hoursCreate and maintain all operational signageAssure that trail maps are up to date and following the latest branding standardsAttend weekly management meetingsYou are dedicated to customer service, and strive to assist the guest before the guest asks, and have the ability to provide physical assistance when requiredLead in recruitment, hiring, training and supervision of Lift Hosts, Tube Park Attendants, Summit Guides, Mountain Crew, and any other operations staff, ensuring they are set up to perform their duties successfullyCoach, mentor and provide consistent feedback to team members and assist them with reaching their goalsResponsible for payroll and scheduling of Operations Team MembersResponsible for ordering miscellaneous supplies required in operations (cleaning products etc.)Maintain the cleanliness around the gondola and on all trailsEmbody our value “safety starts with us’ and comply with health and safety regulations, participate in Sea to Sky Gondola’s health and safety program, and report incidents, injuries and unsafe conditions in a timely manner.Support the advancement of our environmental sustainability goals by encouraging our employees and guests to participate in programs aimed at reducing waste, energy and water usage, and emissions.Perform other duties as requiredRequired Skills and Experience:Extensive experience in the operation and maintenance of detachable passenger ropeways (preferably Doppelmayr)At least 2 years leadership experience, including managing at least 20+ people within ski industry operations or tourism - ski lift operations management, trail crew leadership, guiding lead.Lift 150 or/ and Lift 151 Certificate (or willingness to attain within 3 months)BC Driver’s License (Class 4 an asset)Prior experience being part of an emergency response team, an asset4x4 driving on alpine mountain roads. ATV experience an assetFirst Aid designation preferred (Basic FA, OFA 3)Knowledge of radio protocols and usePrevious experience with systems and administration - such as ADP, myHR, OracleExcellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to provide clear, consistent communication to team members and stakeholders in the organization, both written and verbal.Detail oriented with the ability to utilize Microsoft Suite to keep records, schedules and documents up to date and organizedExtensive knowledge of Squamish and area surrounding Sea to Sky GondolaAble to reason and react with quick, thoughtful judgment, while remaining calm under pressureWeekend and evening availabilityExperience with inventory managementLegally authorized to work in CanadaSatisfactory Criminal Record Check required.If you answered yes to the questions above, can see yourself performing the duties listed, and have the qualifications we are looking for, please send a resume and cover letter to joinourteam@seatoskygondola.com
