Job DescriptionBoard Chair - Outdoor Access CommissionThe Outdoor Access Commission (OAC) is seeking a new Board Chair.We are looking for a highly capable leader with proven experience in governance, financial oversight, stakeholder engagement, and relationship management. The ideal candidate will guide the Board effectively and help raise the Commission's profile nationally.About The CommissionThe Commission is a Crown agency that leads efforts to improve access to the outdoors across New Zealand. It administers a national strategy for outdoor access, including tracks and trails, and is responsible for:Mapping public access routesProviding information to the publicPromoting responsible outdoor conductResolving access disputesNegotiating new access opportunitiesYou can learn more about the Commission here: The Outdoor Access Commission.Role DetailsAppointment: Made by the Minister of Agriculture for a term of up to three years.Meetings: 5 – 6 times per year, typically over two days.Additional Commitment: approximately one day per month outside of Board meetings.Remuneration: $18,700 per annum (under review in line with the Cabinet Fees Framework).Expenses: Travel costs for Board meetings are covered by the Commission.Eligibility & ApplicationApplicants must:Be a New Zealand residentProvide contact details for two refereesBe willing to complete a conflict of interest disclosure and undergo a Police check.Note: Current MPI employees are not eligible for appointmentTo apply, please submit your cover letter and CV online.Applications close at midnight on 25th November 2025
