Come be part of our journey to become the leading force in health and wellness, providing tasty and nutritious snacking choices to our consumers!What You'll DoThe Packaging Engineer will support all Health and Wellness Division Capital and cost optimization projects across the KIND, Natures Bakery and trü frü Business Units.This team member will act as a project engineer or SME, depending on the project, for packaging initiatives within the Health and Wellness (H&W) platform. The role is accountable for performing engineering activities including capital planning, user requirement development, feasibility engineering, project management, and installation initiatives. The Packaging Engineer will also support business initiatives around value leadership, sustainability, and manufacturing support. Collaboration with a cross-functional team is necessary for success in this role, including H&W and Business Unit stakeholders. Projects may include purchase and installation of capital assets, procurement and commissioning of new format parts, equipment upgrades/retrofits, and evaluation of new packaging materials. This is both a project engineering role and a project management role with a split of about 80/20.How You'll Do It...Act as support for the Business Units and other key stakeholders for packaging projects.A strategic thinker and approach business initiatives with an entrepreneurial spirit.Influence, facilitate groups with diverse perspectives, and bring teams to consensus / alignmentWork in a fast-paced and rapidly changing environment and maintain a positive outlookAble to demonstrate prudent judgment when making important decisions by utilizing knowledge of industry best practices and current trendsExcellent at planning and prioritization skills with the ability to multi-task and rapidly adaptProvide guidance and support for engineering regarding design concepts, specifications and requirements to best utilize equipment and manufacturing process in packaging.Project scope development and management Collaborate with the Finance team to track capex budget spend, cash flow projections, and productivity cost savings justification. Reputation of the team, i.e., how the project was achievedFeasibility and costing studiesCapital spending plans development & supportResponsible for understanding the manufacturing processes of the company and identifying areas where the cost/ benefit favors technology and automation.Effectiveness of team, build team, manage interpersonal opportunitiesKeeps abreast of best practices, and current or emerging manufacturing technologies to determine option and recommend improvements.Collaborate with the HSE (Health Safety Environmental) and Food Safety and Quality Teams to ensure products are manufactured to specifications and in compliance with Mars INC Safety and Food Safety StandardsExecute communication processes that ensure appropriate level of communication of daily activities between all stakeholders.Collaborate with external project stakeholders to ensure priorities and standards have been reviewed and scope of work is aligned.What You'll Bring To Mars Health And WellnessOrganizational LeadershipYou bring technical equipment and material knowledge to the organizationYou provide improvements to department and enterprise-wide processes and ways of workingYou develop and manage supplier relationships and stay abreast of industry trends and technology developments to leverage outside ideas and technical solutions You network with the global R&D community to share and utilize best practices. You support the pipeline development/validation/execution of packaging productivity projects.You have...BS or MS degree in Packaging, Mechanical Engineering, or a related degreeAt least 4 years of relevant concept to launch experienceAt least 4 years of relevant experience in package engineering, development and manufacturing qualification, start-up & new product projectsStrong foundational knowledge in packaging materials, processes, and equipmentStrong problem-solving and analytical skillsFamiliarity with the activities in Marketing, Market Research, Legal/Regulatory, QA and ManufacturingThe ability to travel up to 30%Certain states and localities require employers to post a reasonable estimate of salary range. A reasonable estimate of the current base salary range for this position is $85,000.00 - $115,000.00. Actual salary will be based on a variety of factors, including location, experience, skill set, performance, licensure and certification, and business needs.
