As the organisation scales, it is focused on strengthening internal systems, growing the team, and institutionalising people practices that support high performance and agility.Key ResponsibilitiesCulture and EngagementPromote a vibrant and values-aligned culture by supporting initiatives that foster inclusion, collaboration, and motivation across a geographically distributed team.People Strategy ExecutionTranslate organisational strategy into people processes that scale with growth, improve structures, and ensure alignment across departments.Performance and GrowthSupport the implementation of performance management systems that balance goal setting with developmental feedback.Coordinate performance reviews and provide data-driven insights to leadership.Talent DevelopmentDrive learning initiatives and individual development plans (IDPs) in collaboration with managers.Support leadership development and internal capacity building.Workforce Planning and SuccessionIdentify skills gaps and collaborate with leadership to create succession and staffing plans that ensure business continuity.HR OperationsOversee recruitment, onboarding, policy implementation, and compliance processes.Supervise the People Associate and ensure consistent delivery of core HR services.Process InnovationSupport ongoing digitisation of HR workflows and co-lead improvements that enhance employee experience and operational efficiency.Well-being and RecognitionImplement staff well-being initiatives and recognition programs that drive motivation and resilience.Cross-Departmental CollaborationActively engage with other departments to understand people-related needs and co-create solutions that improve productivity and cohesion.Other DutiesTake on special projects and other responsibilities as delegated by the People Management Lead.Who You AreA people-centered professional with at least 4 years of experience in People or HR roles, preferably within the nonprofit or innovation ecosystem.A strategic thinker who understands what it takes to scale people systems in a growing, impact-driven organisation.Tech-savvy and analytical, with strong ability to use data and digital tools to support decisions and improve outcomes.A confident and empathetic leader who can supervise others, build trust, and communicate effectively across diverse teams.Proactive, adaptable, and entrepreneurial, able to anticipate needs, manage competing priorities, and take initiative.Committed to building inclusive, agile, and high-performing work environments in Africa.Minimum QualificationsFirst degree in Human Resources, Administration, Management, Law, or a related field.A Master’s degree or MBA is an added advantage.Membership in a recognised HR professional body is an advantage.Strong understanding of the nonprofit or development sector.Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, and HR-related digital tools (such as HRIS or performance management software).
