07.11.2025, Wissenschaftliches Personal The Chair Group of Production and Resource Economics at the TUM School of Management and the TUM School of Life Sciences offers a position as Ph.D. Student / Junior Researcher Empirical Microeconomics / Applied Microeconomics The initial appointment will be 2 years with the possibility of extension. Salary is in accordance with the German State Regulated Public Salary Scale (starting at TV-L E13 2/3). Tasks The successful candidate will conduct cutting-edge empirical research in more than one of the following areas - productivity and efficiency measurement at various levels, - policy design and impact analysis, - resource allocation, growth and welfare evaluation, - technology diffusion and firm level innovation. leading to an internationally competitive PhD degree and internationally peer-reviewed publications. The position might include involvement in selected nationally and internationally funded projects. He/she will receive high quality supervision from the chair’s senior academic staff and might be involved in teaching at un-der/postgraduate level as well as funding acquisition and (global) outreach, if desired. International networking and collaborations are regarded as an integral part of the PhD research experience and are explicitly encouraged (e.g. South America, Asia or Africa). The PhD process will be accompanied by integration into TUM’s School of Life Sciences or School of Management and participation in the related Graduate School training programs.   Qualifications The applicants should possess: - an excellent or very-good university degree in economics - strong analytical and methodological skills with a focus on quantitative data analysis (e.g., econometrics, statistics, machine learning) - a high motivation and the ability to work independently with a strong team orientation - excellent spoken and written English and the will to acquire a certain working language of German.
