The post is based at the Grange University Hospital (GUH), part of Aneurin Bevan University Health Board (ABUHB).This role is an ideal opportunity to build on your clinical and medicines management experience as the ED is an excellent area to learn from and develop your portfolio of evidence. You will also be involved in teaching of pharmacy staff and the wider multi-disciplinary team around your specialist knowledge. Hours of duty will comprise a 12-hour shift pattern with associated make-up shift. We are committed to the professional development of our 190 strong team.This post is fixed term/secondment for 12 months, from February 1st 2026 - January 31st 2027, due to maternity cover. If you are interested in applying for the secondment position, you must obtain permission from your current line manager prior to applying for this post.Main duties of the jobThe post holder will need excellent organisational and interpersonal skills, alongside sound clinical knowledge and relevant experience. The post will be responsible for providing a medicines management service within the Urgent Care Division. These “front door” roles are varied as they involve working across multiple specialties and are integrated into the Emergency Department, but also within multiple medical and surgical teams. You will work closely with and be supported by the Divisional Pharmacist Urgent Care to continue your development.This role includes working alongside Consultants and Senior Nurses to deliver a high-quality patient focused service at the very beginning of a patient’s hospital journey. It will involve medicine reconciliation, patient counselling and education and ensuring safe discharge which may require liaising with care homes etc. You will provide a thorough medicines management service including; retrieval of patient own medication/transfer of patient own medication to and from general wards, assessment of patient own medication on admission, supply of patient own medication to bedside lockers, reduced medicine wastage, safe and appropriate medicine storage within the clinical area and stock list reviews.Working for our organisationAneurin Bevan University Health Board is a multi-award-winning NHS organisation with a passion for caring.
