DescriptionShopbop is looking for an experienced and accomplished Photography Lead to play the leadership role in defining breakthrough imagery solutions for our off figure product photography studios in Madison, WI. The candidate will bring innovation to high-volume photographic workflows, controlling operational costs while improving the quality of imagery produced. The Photography Lead is required to stay at the forefront of imagery within online retailing, ensuring that Shopbop is ahead of the curve and ready to incorporate relevant solutions into the customer experience. The successful candidate will be required to understand the larger business strategy while overseeing the implementation details of new imagery standards, technologies and equipment. In this role, the qualified candidate will be responsible for leading the daily operations of a team of Photographers working in a high-volume, fast-paced photo studio. The position requires close cross-function collaboration with studio Leads and the ability to work across creative teams, so the right person will have an implicit understanding of the balance needed between artistry, communication and cooperation.Key job responsibilitiesProduce the highest quality photography for all products, including those that require a high degree of problem solving;Provide supervision as well as mentoring, training, development and performance management of the Photography team;Maintain consistently high standards for accuracy, aesthetics and productivity;Develop techniques and best practices for shooting new categories and disseminate those practices;Develop and maintain Photography style guides for Shopbop’s on and off figure photo studios;Guide the constant improvement of Shopbop photography quality and establish the visual style and presentation of photography;Interact directly with external teams to provide and receive visual guidance, implement process improvements, and procure and repair equipment;Collect and analyze data and testing solutions for process improvements and new initiatives;Ensure creation of robust training and process documentation.Basic Qualifications Bachelor's degree or equivalent Professional photography portfolio that demonstrates an expert-level knowledge of digital photography, including lighting, composition, color quality and aesthetics; Minimum of 5 years experience in commercial studio photography; Photography degree or equivalent industry experience; Exhaustive knowledge of common digital capture platforms (Canon/Nikon DSLRs, medium format systems, and RED); various lighting environments (strobe, HMI, fluorescent, and LED); Fluency in Capture One, Photoshop, Bridge and Lightroom; Extensive documented experience in commercial shooting, across an array of client environments, including editorial, catalog, advertising and e-commerce; Demonstrated ability to manage high volumes of workflow including prioritization, planning, and task delegation under tight deadlines; Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously under tight deadlines; Experience successfully leading teams/functions through change; Proficiency in color management policies and understanding of basic file management automation practices; Video capture expertise; Obsession with delighting customers; Excellent written and verbal communication skills.Preferred Qualifications Video editing expertise; Established and demonstrable network within the fashion industry; Familiarity with Mac OS, including scripting capabilities; AI/automation familiarity.Amazon is an equal opportunity employer and does not discriminate on the basis of protected veteran status, disability, or other legally protected status.Our inclusive culture empowers Amazonians to deliver the best results for our customers. The base pay for this position ranges from $61,300/year in our lowest geographic market up to $131,200/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
