Plant General Manager

Overview: The General Manager Plant will lead all operations of a large-scale chemical manufacturing facility, ensuring safe, efficient, and sustainable production. This senior leadership role involves strategic planning, operational excellence, people development, and compliance with all environmental, health, and safety standards.Key Responsibilities:Lead end-to-end plant operations including production, quality, maintenance, logistics, and supply chain.Drive operational efficiency, productivity, and cost optimisation across all functions.Ensure compliance with EHS, ISO, NEQS, and other regulatory standards.Implement world-class manufacturing practices (Lean, Six Sigma, TPM).Develop and execute strategic plans aligned with company growth and expansion goals.Lead budgeting, OPEX & CAPEX management, and resource allocation.Monitor KPIs and performance metrics to ensure achievement of production and quality targets.Champion a culture of safety, innovation, accountability, and continuous improvement.Oversee manpower planning, training, and development of technical and management teams.Collaborate with R&D and corporate leadership on process innovation and new product introductions.Manage relationships with regulatory bodies, auditors, vendors, and key external stakeholders.Identify and implement technological upgrades to improve process reliability and plant efficiency.Lead risk assessments, emergency preparedness, and crisis management activities.Ensure sustainability initiatives and environmental stewardship are integrated into plant operations.Requirements:Bachelor’s/Master’s in Chemical or Process Engineering.12–15 years of progressive experience in chemical/process manufacturing.Minimum 5–7 years in a senior leadership role (Plant Head/GM/Operations Director).Proven track record in leading large, multi-disciplinary teams in high-compliance industries (Chemical, Petrochemical, Fertiliser, or Specialty Chemicals).Strong expertise in Lean, Six Sigma, and process optimisation.Excellent leadership, financial, and decision-making skills.High integrity, resilience, and strategic thinking ability.
