The role involves deep technical engagement across hardware, firmware, and software layers to ensure energy-efficient and thermally robust designs for next-generation server and SoC platforms.The Opportunity As a Power & Thermal Engineer II, you will be responsible, but not limited to: Conduct detailed analysis of system power consumption and thermal behavior across multiple workloads to identify performance and efficiency improvement opportunities. Investigate and tune power management features within the Linux kernel, including cpuidle, cpufreq, and runtime PM frameworks. Validate and characterize processor and system power states (ACPI C-states, P-states, etc.) to ensure compliance and performance optimization. Analyze the power and thermal impact of high-speed I/O subsystems, focusing on PCIe link power management (ASPM, L1 substates). Collaborate with hardware, firmware, and OS teams to define and achieve power, performance, and thermal targets for new platforms. Develop and maintain automation frameworks to measure, validate, and regress system power and thermal metrics.This position description identifies the responsibilities and tasks typically associated with the performance of the position. Other relevant essential functions may be required.What You Need The ideal candidate should have 4+ years of experience in the following areas: System-level power and thermal analysis, validation, or optimization. Power, thermal, or platform validation roles within semiconductor or systems engineering domains. System internals, processor power states, and platform power delivery architectures. Linux kernel’s power management stack and system-level performance optimization techniques. PCIe protocol, link states, and power management features (ASPM, L1 substates, etc.). Lab instrumentation such as data acquisition systems, oscilloscopes, and thermal cameras. Debugging and analytical skills to perform root-cause analysis of complex system-level power and thermal issues. Nice to have: Experience with Python scripting or automation frameworks for data acquisition and test automation. Familiarity with firmware-level power control (BIOS, BMC, UEFI) and telemetry systems. Exposure to SoC validation, hardware modeling, or board-level power measurement environments.
