In our lives, in our work and in the lives of people across the world.Job DescriptionMake your mark as a Data Engineering & Visualization Intern at Boskalis! In this role, you will design and prototype a new, generalized visualization tool that seamlessly integrates with the API of our existing AI model to display outputs in near real time. Your work will eliminate manual processes, automate updates, and provide an intuitive, scalable dashboard that makes classification results actionable and easy to understand.You’ll collaborate with mentors and users, and help create a solution that can support multiple dredging and infrastructure projects worldwide.Your Responsibilities As a Data Engineering & Visualization InternArchitect and implement backend integrations to connect API outputs with Databricks data storage and the visualization tool, ensuring automated near real-time updates. Gather and analyze user requirements to identify the most valuable KPIs, visuals, and interactions for the dashboard. Design and prototype intuitive user interfaces with clear navigation, layout, and styling, using realistic sample data. Develop and configure interactive visualizations (maps, trend charts, activity timelines, performance metrics) in Power BI or similar tools. Test, optimize, refine, and document both the backend data flows and the frontend visual experience to deliver a reliable, fast, and user-friendly solution. Your Qualities And ExperienceYou can move ahead as a Data Engineering & Visualization Intern if you have:Enrollment in a bachelor’s program (HBO), preferably in computer science, data analytics, engineering, or related discipline. Familiarity with one or more visualization tools, and an understanding of UI/UX concepts. Understanding of basic API consumption (REST endpoints) and the ability to integrate data from multiple sources. Knowledge of SQL and Databricks workspace for designing, implementing and automating backend data pipelines. Ability to work independently and iteratively based on feedback. A good command of written and spoken English.
