JOB SUMMARYThe Purchasing Supervisor is responsible for ensuring timely, cost-effective, and quality-compliant procurement of raw materials essential for food production. The role oversees supplier management, procurement planning, inventory coordination, and compliance with food safety and quality standards. This position works closely with Production, QA/QC, Warehouse, and Finance to support uninterrupted manufacturing operations.KEY RESPONSIBILITIESSource, negotiate, and purchase raw materials required for production (e.g., ingredients, packaging materials, additives).Ensure procurement activities meet quality, cost, and delivery targets.Prepare and review purchase orders, contracts, and supplier agreements.Maintain accurate purchasing records and documentation.Identify, evaluate, and develop suppliers aligned with company standards.Conduct supplier audits and performance evaluations (quality, reliability, pricing, lead time).Resolve supplier issues and ensure corrective actions are taken.Build long-term relationships with strategic suppliers.Work with Warehouse, Production, and Planning teams to maintain optimal inventory levels.Monitor stock levels, reorder points, and safety stock for raw materials.Analyze consumption trends to forecast procurement requirements.Ensure timely deliveries to avoid production downtime.Review and negotiate price lists, contracts, and volume discounts.Monitor market trends, raw material price fluctuations, and supply risks.Recommend cost-saving initiatives and alternative sourcing strategies.Ensure all purchased materials comply with food safety regulations (e.g., FDA, GMP, HACCP).Maintain supplier documentation such as COA, MSDS, and certifications.Ensure adherence to internal procurement policies and procedures.Support audits related to purchasing and supplier compliance.Supervise Purchasing Assistants/Staff and oversee daily procurement operations.Train and mentor team members to improve purchasing processes.Delegate tasks, monitor performance, and ensure timely completion of purchasing activities.QUALIFICATIONSBachelor’s Degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Food Technology, or related field.At least 3–5 years of experience in purchasing, procurement, or supply chain roles; experience in food manufacturing / fmcgKnowledge of raw materials used in food production and relevant regulatory standards.Strong negotiation, analytical, and supplier management skills.Proficient in MS Office and ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, Netsuite, etc.).Excellent communication, planning, and problem-solving skills.
