DescriptionJOB SUMMARYReporting directly to the VP of Operations, Quality and Technology, the Quality Manager is responsible for the Quality Management System and supporting Quality Control functions for Murphy and Nolan Inc. and serves as the Management Representative with authority and responsibility as defined in AS9100. This role performs management of key performance metrics; investigation of quality issues; and development. improvement and implementation of systems, procedures, and methods.Essential Job Duties And ResponsibilitiesProvide leadership for the Quality Management System (QMS) and maintain certifications / approvals in accordance with AS9100 by continuously evaluating and improving the QMS processes, procedures, and documentation in support of ever-changing business strategies and customer/industry requirements and expectations. Perform duties as the Management Representative with authority and responsibility as defined in AS9100, including timely responses and status updates (internal and external) Effectively manage the Quality functions by providing high quality products and compliant data items to customers within scheduled dates; ensuring compliance to customer and industry requirements; and developing cost effective controls/solutions to reduce costs of poor quality (rework, scrap, warranty escapes). Formulate, document, and maintain quality control standards and on-going quality control objectives. Provide training, coaching, and mentoring to other Company departments on quality related and/or technical requirements and support technical decisions and problem solving with respect to these technical requirements. Provide Quality support to the organization with respect to contract/requirement review and planning, external customer/agency audits, visits, program reviews, source inspections, product/process development activities, Failure Analysis, Root Cause Corrective Action (RCCA) investigations, and Continuous improvement projects and track and communicate to the organization Customer Quality issues, rejections, escapes, failures, problems, audit findings, etc. and work with the appropriate functions to develop recovery plans, RCCA plans, and continuous improvement activities focused on resolving the issues and driving customer satisfaction. Team with Purchasing to address supplier quality issues and to improve incoming material quality. Effectively manage QMS specific systems such as Corrective Actions, Internal Auditing, Calibration, etc. Take personal ownership of internal and vendor issues; and support external customer issues and follow through to ensure a lasting service impression of responsiveness and commitment. Travel to other sites to support them and prospects to generate additional business when appropriate. Create and direct environmental test functions and applications. Provide, as requested, budgetary guidance and input via annual standards reviews and department budgets. Perform related duties as requested to meet department and/or company objectives. Regular and reliable attendance is a requirement of employmentRequirementsQUALIFICATION STANDARDSInformation reviewed by personnel in this position is limited to US persons. B.S. degree and/or equivalent of 5 years related experience/education combination. Full understanding of QMS standard required. AS9100 standard knowledge is desired. Technical literacy, problem solving and critical thinking skills. Project Management and organizational skills In depth knowledge of quality systems, policies and procedures and the ability to apply that knowledge towards the interpretation of customer requirements. Able to juggle multiple tasks and make quality decisions without negative impact on others. Proficient and effective in leading others in root cause corrective action analysis. Diverse knowledge of inspection control methods, techniques, and standards. Capable of developing and executing effective plans; identifying obstacles and countermeasures as well as communicating effectively to achieve individual and group goals. Must have at the time of hire, and maintain throughout employment, a valid NYS drivers’ license with eligibility to drive a company vehicle, meeting insurance coverage acceptable to the company’s insurance carrier with ability to travel on a regular basis including before/after normal work hours. (Use of company vehicle provided.) Strong computer skills with proficiency in the use of an ERP System and Office365 Suite. Ability to communicate effectively (professionally) with both internal and external contacts. Strong interpersonal, organization, follow-up, and communication skills Work information is limited to US persons. Supervisory ResponsibilitiesThis role does not have any direct supervisory responsibilities. AccountabilitiesFull accountability in role of the Management Representative with authority and responsibility as defined in AS9100. Contribute to the overall success of the company by performing all assigned duties in a professional, timely and accurate manner. Follow all Company safety policies and procedures as set forth in the Employee Handbook, Safety requirements and any local regulations. Equipment, Machines And Software UsedAbility to operate a telephone, cell phone, photocopier, calculator, and computer to send/receive email messages, post information to computer software including an ERP System and Microsoft Outlook365 Suite. You must wear appropriate personal protective equipment including safety shoes, gloves, and safety glasses when performing certain job duties. Mental And Visual RequirementsClose mental and visual attention required to perform work dealing primarily with preparing and analyzing data and figures, performing accounting work, using a computer terminal, and/or extensive reading. Visual acuity, with or without corrective lens. Physical Activities And Requirementsfrequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects. Ability to utilize visual acuity when performing inspection activities on work products as necessary. Visual acuity, with or without corrective lens, to pass Jaeger Vision Exam. Travel is required on an as needed basis to travel to other company site locations or as needed for other company business with ability to drive company provided vehicle between the Syracuse, Rochester, and Buffalo facilities. ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONSWork involves minimal exposure to unusual elements, such as temperature changes, outdoor exposure to weather conditions, fumes, odors, gases, mists, and/or smoke, oils and/or lubricating fluids. (SDS sheets on file and available for review.) Some work in an office setting (on site and/or remote), but some work environments involve exposure to physical risks, such as operating dangerous equipment and proximity to moving mechanical parts. Ability to exert up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently to move objects. CompensationThe salary range is the governmental minimum exempt salary level up to $90,000/year, plus established performance incentive per established goals and additional discretionary incentive.
