Research Associate I, Characterization

This is a hands-on, lab-based opportunity for pre-doctoral candidates to support experimental workflows and data processing for materials discovery. This role provides a unique opportunity to engage in innovative research and development activities across multiple disciplines, hone a diversity of skills, and help realize a new paradigm in scientific discovery.What You'll Be BuildingExecute and monitor materials characterization workflows across diverse chemistries and functionalitiesAssist in analysis of materials characterization data under supervision.Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including experimental and machine learning scientists, to support characterization efforts for scientific objectives.Maintain accurate and detailed laboratory records and ensure compliance with safety and regulatory standards.Assist in quality check and preventative maintenance of the instruments.What You’ll Need To SucceedBachelor’s degree in Materials Science, Chemistry, Physics, or related fieldPrior experience in working in a laboratory environment.Hands-on work with common characterization tools such as profilometer, XRD, SEM, and XRFAttention to detail in experimental execution and data interpretationEffective, respectful written and verbal communication skillsComfort working in interdisciplinary, fast-paced environmentsBonus Points ForFamiliarity with high throughput scientific platformsProgramming skills (e.g., Python, MATLAB) for automating data analysisExperience with CAD drawing and prototypingAbout LilaLila Sciences is the world’s first scientific superintelligence platform and autonomous lab for life, chemistry, and materials science.  We are pioneering a new age of boundless discovery by building the capabilities to apply AI to every aspect of the scientific method.  We are introducing scientific superintelligence to solve humankind's greatest challenges, enabling scientists to bring forth solutions in human health, climate, and sustainability at a pace and scale never experienced before.
