Position SummaryThe Section of Oral/Head & Neck Oncology Research at UCLA School of Dentistry, led by Professor David T.W. Wong, seeks a motivated Research Data Analyst I to assist in a translational research program focused on developing novel liquid biopsy biomarkers for early cancer detection. The incumbent will support ongoing research projects by assisting with the processing, organization, and analysis of next-generation sequencing (NGS) and multi-omics data, including cfDNA, RNA-seq, and related datasets. The position will also provide general lab and computational support under close supervision of the Principal Investigator and senior researchers.Salary & CompensationUCLA provides a full pay range. Actual salary offers consider factors, including budget, prior experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business considerations. (Required) Interest in developing skills in AI/ML applications for biological or biomedical data. (Required) Familiarity with concepts in liquid biopsy, cancer biology, immunology, or related biomedical fields. (Required) Basic knowledge of, or experience using, version control (e.g., Git), containerized workflows (e.g., Docker), or cloud-based computational tools. (Required) Basic programming experience in one or more of the following: Python, R, SQL, or Bash; familiarity with Linux environment a plus. (Required)Interest in learning bioinformatics and data analysis methods, including exposure to AI/ML tools. (Required)Introductory knowledge in WGS, BS-seq, scRNA-seq, ATAC-seq, RNA-seq, CITE-seq.. (Required)Ability to learn to integrate, analyze, and visualize biological datasets under supervision. (Required)Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to follow established research protocols. (Required)Excellent written and verbal communication skills. (Required)Ability to work both independently on assigned tasks and collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team. (Required)Commitment to following research integrity standards, reproducibility practices, and laboratory safety protocols. (Required)Education, Licenses, Certifications & Personal AffiliationsBachelor's Degree Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Molecular/Cell Biology, or related field. (Required) Master's Degree Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Molecular/Cell Biology, or related field.
