It conducts research in the area of computer science and supports the departments and research groups of the institute in software development. Its main goal is to increase the quality and impact of the research at the institute, both internally and worldwide.Roles & ResponsibilitiesIn the context mentioned above, we are seeking a Research Software to strengthen our team.You will work closely with the scientists and engineers of the institute. You will directly contribute to projects in various areas (e. g., machine learning, computer vision, robotics, haptics), helping researchers to translate research prototypes into supportable software. You will also maintain and develop part of our software infrastructure.Responsibilities May IncludeImplementation of software solutions for research purposesTranslation of research code into robust software (e. g., optimization, refactoring)Contribution to research projects to allow deployment (containerization, virtualization)Management and diversification of our in-house software infrastructure (e. g., CI/CD)Dissemination of good software practices (reviews, tutorials, workshops)Maintenance of software libraries and infrastructureProfilApplicants Should HaveAn M.Sc. or PhD in computer science, electrical engineering, or related disciplineSeveral years of experience in software and DevOps engineeringTeam-player attitudeExcellent communication skills in written and spoken EnglishYou Bring At Least Two Of The Following SkillsExpertise in C++ and/or Rust, and PythonExperience in code optimization and implementing scientific librariesExperience in Agile software developmentExperience with DevOps-related frameworks (Docker, Ansible, Gitlab CI/CD...)Wir bietenThe position will be located in the Tübingen site of our institute as part of the Software Workshop team, with possibility for some remote work.Salaries and contract will be based on previous experience according to the Public Service Wage Agreement (TVöD) guidelines. This is a full-time position.
