Research Officer (Reporting to the Director of Membership Services)Position Status: Vacant effective November 24, 2025Full-time, Temporary contract effective immediately to December 31, 2026Classification Salary Level IV - $105,386 - $132,320 (Effective January 1, 2025)This position conducts, leads, and oversees AMAPCEO policy analysis and research, including writing internal reports, public policy analysis, and supporting the development of AMAPCEO policies and procedures.Major responsibilities include: Reporting to the Director, Membership Services, under the supervision and direction of the Team Lead, Membership Services, and liaising closely with the Offices of the President / CEO and Chief Operating Officer, the incumbent has the following duties and related tasks. Working with daily functional independence and with minimum supervision, the incumbent is responsible for: Conduct, lead, and oversee complex research and analysis on collective bargaining, labour relations, HR policies, legislation, and emerging trends.Prepare internal reports, analytical papers, briefs, submissions, correspondence, and speeches for senior management, elected officials, and external stakeholders.Develop and refine AMAPCEO policies and procedures, providing strategic options, recommendations, and proposed policy language.Monitor, report on, and analyse government legislation, public policy trends, employer policies, labour relations developments, pensions, benefits, grievances, and salaries.Assist with membership and employer surveys, analysing results and monitoring public opinion relevant to government and the broader public sector.Track and analyse positions, policies, and research from other bargaining agents and stakeholder organizations.Provide research support and strategic advice to AMAPCEO committees and cross-functional teams.Liaise with members, elected officials, government representatives, legal counsel, consultants, and other bargaining agents.Participate in senior labour relations meetings to provide research and strategic advice.Plan and coordinate multi-unit research projects and deliver reports, briefing notes, policy papers, and actionable recommendations.Performing other duties as assigned consistent with this job specification or as mutually agreed upon between the incumbent and their supervisor.Candidates should possess:Post-secondary degree in Labour Relations, Social Sciences, or a related field, or at least 5 years of relevant experience in a unionized or non-profit environment.Proven ability to conduct independent research, analyze complex issues, and produce high-quality reports, policy papers, briefing materials, and submissions.Strong understanding of labour relations, collective bargaining, public service operations, legislative processes, and relevant case law.Skilled in monitoring trends, policies, proposals, and emerging issues to assess implications and inform strategic decisions.Excellent project management skills; able to prioritize multiple complex tasks and meet tight deadlines.Advanced written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex information clearly to varied audiences.Proficient with PC/networked systems, data analysis tools, and Internet research.Knowledge of survey research principles and demonstrated ability to analyze quantitative and qualitative data.Work Location: AMAPCEO Office, 1 Dundas Street West, Suite 2310, Toronto, ONTravel Requirements: Occasional travel and work outside normal working hours may be required.All interested applicants should submit a resume with a cover letter by e-mail to hr@amapceo.on.ca by Friday, December 5, 2025, before 4:00 p.m., to the attention of Grace Hu, Human Resources Officer.
