This role forms part of the Food & Beverage team at Village n Life, based at Camps Bay Retreat in Camps Bay.The RoleAs Restaurant Manager, you’ll steer the daily rhythm of the restaurant with confidence, clarity and a strong commitment to service. Your focus sits on steady operations, guest satisfaction, team performance and disciplined cost control, all within a fast-moving hospitality environment.You’ll keep the dining room running smoothly, guide both Front of House and Back of House teams, uphold Village n Life standards and ensure every shift is organised with intention. With an eye for detail and a calm leadership style, you’ll maintain service consistency, support events, oversee stock processes and contribute to a guest experience that feels polished and well-managed.Key ResponsibilitiesOperations & ServiceMaintain dependable service standards across the restaurant and guest touchpoints.Oversee dining-room setup, catering and table presentation.Communicate with service, kitchen and reception teams regarding reservations and events.Coordinate daily Front of House and Back of House operations.Respond effectively to guest complaints and resolve issues confidently.Supervise and organise shifts for service teams.Ensure sanitation, safety and operational regulations are met.Control operational costs and manage waste.Process payroll inputs and maintain operational records.Ensure staff work within established standards and protocols.Report on financial performance, inventory and personnel needs.Aesthetics & FacilitiesMaintain the F&B Aesthetics Manual.Maintain the F&B Facilities Management Manual.AdministrationProduce management reports as required.Sign off monthly income statements.Maintain F&B staff HR files and assist with HR-related tasks.Manage the events store and ensure accurate organisation.Marketing & Guest EngagementRecognise returning guests and maintain good relationships.Upsell F&B, accommodation and tourism services.Inform guests of specials and upcoming events.Ensure staff are fully briefed on promotions and events.Support VNL Leisure Club awareness.Human ResourcesPrepare weekly rosters and ensure contractual hours are met.Uphold grooming and uniform standards.Assist in recruitment and onboarding.Train and test staff on service standards.Conduct or support performance appraisals.Manage progressive discipline with HR.Maintain staff files.FinanceEnsure quality standards are upheld throughout service.Maintain stock control systems.Sign off daily beverage counts and variance reports.Support monthly and annual budget tracking.Sign off staff hours and payroll adjustments.Management & LeadershipPerform Duty Manager shifts as the senior person on property when required.Lead both FOH and BOH teams confidently.Manage stock takes, gratuity allocations and Micros reporting.Implement strategies to improve productivity and sales.Run special events with the Events Manager.Liaise with guests, employees, suppliers, licensing authorities and sales representatives.Ensure SOPs and policies are consistently followed.Ensure correct billing procedures and cash-up accuracy.Anticipate guest needs and respond proactively.What We’re Looking ForGrade 12; hotel school or accommodation training advantageous.Previous experience in a similar role within a 4/5-star environment.Strong understanding of restaurant operations and hospitality standards.Proficient in MS Office; Opera beneficial.Confident communicator with the ability to lead service teams.Strong judgement, problem-solving ability and calm operational thinking.Attention to detail with a focus on service delivery and cost control.Reliable, hands-on leadership suitable for a busy seven-day operation.What We OfferCompetitive remuneration aligned with experience.A leadership role with visible impact on guest satisfaction and restaurant performance.Support from an established hospitality group.Growth opportunities within Village n Life.
