At EML, we don't subscribe to ivory tower compliance – the organisation seeks a hands-on leader who will engage across the organisation and understand the practical impacts and outcomes of their work.The Risk & Compliance team at EML is divided into two overarching teams:Country Risk & Compliance – hold broad responsibilities within their countries/regions and where applicable hold designated titles (such as SMF or PCF designations). They are supported in the execution of their functions and activities by a global team of specialists but maintain ultimate decision-making authority and control via oversight of all parts of programmes and activities that impact on their country/region.Global Risk & Compliance – narrowly focussed specific functions or areas, providing deep subject matter expertise, framework design and execution support and standardisation across the group in the areas of Regulatory Compliance, Risk Management and Strategy, Testing and Assurance, Regulatory Engagement and Reporting, and Privacy and Consumer Protection. The RoleThe Risk & Compliance Strategic Initiatives Manager role sits within the Global Risk & Compliance team and is instrumental in driving the delivery of strategic projects, initiatives, and team performance across the business. What You’ll DoWe are seeking a strategic, organised, and highly collaborative individual to join EML as our Risk & Compliance Strategic Initiatives Manager. Based in London or Dublin, and reporting to the Group Chief Risk and Compliance Officer, you will be responsible for driving the delivery of critical projects and strategic initiatives within the Risk & Compliance function. You will act as a force multiplier for the team, ensuring efficiency, performance, and alignment with annual OKRs and objectives.This is a hands-on, cross-functional role that blends strategic planning and project management responsibilities, partnering with stakeholders across the organisation.Strategic Projects & InitiativesLead and coordinate the delivery of strategic projects and initiatives across the Risk & Compliance function, ensuring alignment with business priorities and regulatory requirements.Scope, plan, and execute cross-functional initiatives where Risk & Compliance is the primary or lead team, collaborating with stakeholders in Finance, Legal, Technology, and Operations.Develop and maintain project plans, roadmaps, and tracking tools to monitor progress against objectives, milestones, and annual OKRs.Support the development and ongoing enhancement of project management frameworks, including standardised templates and reporting formats.Facilitate regular reviews of team objectives, performance metrics, and OKR progress, preparing reports and insights for senior leadership.Champion a culture of accountability, collaboration, and operational excellence within the Risk & Compliance team.Stakeholder Management & CollaborationWork closely with senior stakeholders from all three lines of defence.Act as a trusted advisor for the Risk & Compliance function, ensuring alignment, communication, and follow-through on key initiatives.Partner with key stakeholders across the Risk & Compliance function and the wider business to drive successful project outcomes.Manage conflicting priorities and requirements across different regions and business lines.Reporting & CommunicationPrepare high-quality reports, presentations, and updates for Board, executive, and regulatory audiences.Ensure effective communication of project progress, risks, and outcomes to stakeholders at all levels.Support ad-hoc requests from the Group Chief Risk and Compliance Officer and senior leadership.What You’ll BringExperience: Experience in project management, strategic initiatives, or a “Chief of Staff” roles within risk, compliance, or financial services. Proven ability to deliver complex projects in global, matrixed environments.Skills: Strong organisational, planning, and stakeholder management skills. Ability to drive projects from concept to completion, influence outcomes, and manage competing priorities.Knowledge: Familiarity with risk and compliance frameworks, regulatory environments, and OKR methodologies.Technical: Proficiency in project management tools, reporting platforms, and collaboration technologies.Team and Engagement: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and influence senior leaders and cross-functional teams. Comfortable working independently in a fast-paced environment with evolving priorities.
