We work hand in hand with the award-winning creative teams that forge those innovative partnerships at Translation (our in-house creative advertising agency).We are looking for a Royalty Analyst to join UnitedMasters! This is a hybrid role with 4 days in the office and 1 day remote.What You'll DoCo-manage quarterly and semi-annual royalty statement process with VP of Artist Operations Analyze and approve quarterly and semi-annual royalty statements for artist partners Understand and interpret contract language for exclusive artist partnerships, JV deals, producer and side artist agreements, brand partnerships, music licenses, and other third party royalty agreementsEnsure all royalty collections are accounted for and calculated correctly including performance income, SoundExchange, physical product sales, etcOversee account set up and royalty collection for side artist income payable to UMTrack mechanical licenses and mechanical royalty paymentsConsult with EVP of Music, VP of Artist Operations, and UM General Counsel on royalty structures for label waivers, sample licenses, JV deal structures, label services, physical product royalty rates, etc as neededSubmit royalty payment requests to UM finance for payable balancesCalculate and track recoupment status per song and per artist deal as required per contractual languageCollaborate with UM Finance on Partner Artist P+L and royalty and recoupable expense tracking in NetSuite and proprietary royalty tracking softwareDetermine scalable internal solutions for royalty accountingRespond to general inquiries regarding royalty statements from statement recipientsKnowledge, Skills and AbilitiesExpert knowledge of music industry royalty accountingExperience reading and interpreting contract languageCommunicating complex royalty information/calculations to parties less familiar with standard practicesHighly organizedSolution OrientedCritical Thinking Familiarity with developing scalable solutionsAbility to complete projects on a scheduled timelineWillingness to provide mentorship to emerging artist teams if neededMinimum QualificationsBachelor’s Degree3 years experience in royalty accounting Strong proficiency in MS Office and Google Suite Preferred QualificationsPrevious experience at a major label and/or distributor with exclusive licensing offeringsMusic industry royalty accounting for artists and third parties (producers, sample owners, side artists, etc)Ability to learn quickly, be flexible and adapt to changing industry and organizational landscapeSpreadsheets expertStrategic thinkerExperience/familiarity with royalty accounting software (RoyaltyShare, Curve, etc)About UnitedMasters, Inc.UnitedMasters Inc. represents the creative solutions company, Translation, and the leading software and services platform for independent creators, UnitedMasters. We expect the majority of the candidates who are offered roles at our company to fall healthily throughout the range based on these factors. The range above is for the expectations as laid out in the job description, however we are often open to a wide variety of profiles, and recognize that the person we hire may be less experienced (or more senior) than this job description as posted. If that ends up being the case, the updated salary range will be communicated with you as a candidate.The salary range above is for the NY/CA. As a company, we have a location based strategy, which means the salary range could be lower or higher than this if the role is hired in another location.
