This is for 1- Permanent Part-time position- School Administrative Assistant JOHNSON ELEMENTARY SCHOOL (JES) – Watson Lake Home to the Liard First Nation people, Johnson Elementary School is one of 11 Yukon schools who have joined the newly established First Nation School Board (FNSB) in the Yukon. Dene Zā́gé’- Kaska is the traditional language of the Liard First Nation people. Johnson Elementary School is a K – 7 school with approximately 130 students. We are actively seeking a School Administrative Assistant who are dedicated to living in and being an active member of the community and who can adapt well to a remote lifestyle. Our School professionals value authentic relationships and are committed to working with students, community, administration, Liard First Nation Education team and the FNSB to make positive, progressive changes to education outcomes for learners of Watson Lake. Essential Qualifications Experienced in building positive, respectful relationships with diverse clients, colleagues, and community members Provided welcoming and courteous support to clients and visitors, maintaining professionalism in all front-line interactions Experienced in coordinating administrative workflows, ensuring accurate records management and proper handling of sensitive and confidential correspondence Handling phone systems and directing inquiries efficiently Skilled in financial administration tasks such as managing petty cash, processing purchases, overseeing trust accounts, reconciling Visa statements, and monitoring departmental spending. Adaptable and effective with experience at either an office or school setting, providing comprehensive support for routine administrative and operational tasks is an asset. Candidates who have education, training, and/or experience equivalent to the essential qualifications listed above may be equally considered.Desired Knowledge, Skills and SuitabilityTo best support the achievement of key strategic and business objectives, candidates may be assessed on: Strong organizational skills with keen attention to detail. Ability to build and maintain relationships within the community. Modeling Interpersonal Skills and Personal Responsibility Child centered approach to engaging children Exhibits a strong client focus. Proven experience in a collaborative team environment. Strong communication skills, both verbal and written. Ability to build and maintain relationships within the community. Experience in engaging and connecting with parents.
