We love what we do and work as a team.Blok focuses on urban apartment living in the Atlantic Seaboard and City Bowl of Cape Town.Role Overview:The Senior Accountant is responsible for full-function accounting across multiple entities within the group, ensuring accurate reporting, strong control environments, and efficient financial operations. This role requires advanced technical capability, strong analytical skills, and the ability to work across SPVs, development entities, and operational companies.You will work closely with the Group Finance Manager and supervise junior staff while contributing to robust financial management across the organisation.Key Responsibilities:1.Payment Processing & Cash Management Review supplier reconciliations for mid-month, month-end, and ad-hoc paymentsReview and authorise beneficiariesProcess drawdowns (Investec) and Forex payments (FNB)Oversee project payment cycles and ensure timeous submissionCash flow oversight across entities2.Revenue & BillingUpdate brokerage and project billing schedulesPrepare new project billing frameworksReview STL, leasing, ad-hoc, and tenant billingPrepare intercompany loan interest journalsSupport revenue reconciliation and month-end close3.VAT CompliancePrepare and review VAT workingsSubmit VAT payments for approvalEnsure compliance across all statutory entities4.Audit & Independent ReviewsFull ownership of the audit cycle per entityPrepare audit files and supporting schedulesResolve queries and process audit journalsReview drafted AFS5.Month-End Close & Reporting Review TBs, reconciliations, control accounts, and balance sheet movementsPrepare monthly accruals and recurring journalsReview debtor/creditor age analyses and facility statements6.Transfers & SPVsPrepare unit transfer schedulesReview transfer billingProcess reallocation journals and completion cost adjustments7.Xero AdministrationAdd new entities and maintain system structuresSet up users, templates, GL codes, and tags8.SARS eFilingManage profiles, add entities/users, update banking detailsRequest new tax typesQualifications:BCom Accounting / BCompt or equivalent (Accounting III + Taxation essential)Minimum 6 years’ accounting experienceExperience in SPVs, property development, or audit practice highly advantageousSupervisory experience beneficialSkills & Competencies:Strong technical accounting and taxation knowledgeAdvanced Excel and financial systems capabilityAbility to supervise junior finance staffHigh accuracy and attention to detailExcellent problem-solving and time-management skillsAbility to work under pressure in a deadline-driven environment
