Senior Bovine Laboratory Technician

Wise Repro is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Senior Laboratory Technician to join our fun, friendly and professional team in the picturesque Granite Belt Region of Southern Queensland. This is an exciting, hands-on opportunity for a process-driven individual who takes pride in accuracy and laboratory excellence. The role will suit someone who enjoys working in a collaborative environment and values precision, organisation, and continuous improvement. About the Role Based at our Glen Aplin facility, you will oversee semen-processing and laboratory operations, ensuring all procedures meet internal and regulatory standards. You’ll contribute to a fast-paced, quality-focused team committed to providing Australia’s leading bovine-reproduction services. Key ResponsibilitiesPerform all aspects of semen processing and laboratory maintenance. Prepare extenders; assess motility, density and extension; manage straw printing, filling, freezing and post-thaw testing. Wash and sterilise labware and collection equipment to maintain sterile conditions. Accurately record and maintain collection and testing data. Conduct post-thaw analyses, third-party semen testing and generate clear, concise reports. Pack, label and store collections with meticulous attention to traceability. Liaise closely with collection and dispatch teams to ensure efficient workflow. Maintain compliance with operational, biosecurity and quality standards. Support ongoing refinement of laboratory procedures and documentation. Work periodically within the cool room (5 °C).  Skills & QualificationsBachelor’s degree in Biology or equivalent discipline (preferred). Demonstrated experience in andrology (essential). Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office and standard IT systems. Understanding of the beef-cattle industry and/or bovine artificial reproduction (advantageous). Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Exceptional attention to detail and time-management ability. Proven initiative and sound problem-solving capability. Commitment to high standards of cleanliness and protocol compliance. Flexibility to work extended or irregular hours during seasonal peaks. Positive, mature and professional attitude with a team-oriented approach.  About Wise Repro Wise Repro is Australia’s home of bovine-reproduction solutions, combining the expertise of Ced Wise AB Services, Rocky Repro, and Wise Breeding Services in an integrated alliance. Our collaboration positions us as a genuine end-to-end provider of reproductive solutions, delivering tailored outcomes for cattle producers across every stage of the breeding process. We offer a comprehensive suite of high-end services including donor flushing, embryo transfer, artificial insemination, semen collection and processing, bull testing and morphology, delivered via our state-of-the-art reproduction centres in Glen Aplin (QLD) and Alton Downs (QLD), as well as our custom-built mobile laboratories servicing clients nationwide. Benefits & Working Conditions Safe, inclusive and team-focused workplace. Open communication between staff and management. All protective clothing and uniforms supplied. Commitment to staff wellbeing, professional development and workplace safety. Opportunity to contribute to a progressive, research-driven reproduction enterprise. How to Apply 📧 Email your resume to info@wiserepro.com.au 📅 Applications close: 21st December 2025Early applications are encouraged, as suitable candidates may be contacted before the closing date.
