Job Description

PURPOSE OF THE JOB:Implats is seeking an experienced audit manager to confidently engage at senior management and Executive level, lead complex audits across operational and corporate environments, and support Group Internal Audit’s capability in delivering high-quality, forward-looking assurance across a diverse, listed mining environment. This role reports into the Executive: Audit Services and requires a senior audit leader who combines strong technical credibility with agility, adaptability, and innovation, and who can drive the progression of internal audit through data analytics, AI enablement, and digitised audit practices, while maintaining alignment to the Global Internal Audit Standards (GIAS).MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:Relevant NQF 8 qualification in Accounting or Auditing essential.Certified Internal Auditor (CIA), Chartered Accountant (CA) or MBA will be an advantage.Minimum 10 years’ internal / external audit experience leading complex audits and managing teams with at least 5 years at manager level.Experience within large, complex, multi-entity or mining operations will be advantageous.Experience in combined assurance practices, leading change and continuous improvement.Experience driving or enabling data analytics, AI, and digital audit solutions within an internal audit environment.Working knowledge and practical implementation of GIAS, including contribution to the IA strategy and quality assurance initiatives.Ability to manage multiple audits and competing priorities with strong governance, risk and control capability.Ability to manage outsourced providers and ensure quality delivery.Resilience, sound judgement, professional courage, and strong senior management communication.Demonstrated agility and adaptability, with the ability to respond to emerging risks, evolving standards, and changing business priorities.Good strategic planning and project management skillsHigh level of emotional maturity and willingness and ability to travel between business operations.Strong leadership, people management, and coaching capability.DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILTIES:Lead/oversee high-risk audits across operations, finance, compliance, safety and ESG areas typical of mining environments.Coordinate and maintain a comprehensive, risk-based multi-year audit plan aligned to organisational strategy.Monitor progress against the annual audit plan and update with organisational and risk changes.Plan and co-ordinate Audit Committee and quarterly reporting requirements.Oversee application of the Combined Assurance framework with all levels of assurance providers.Manage outsourced audit functions, ensuring delivery against scope, budget, and quality expectations.Lead the rollout of GIAS mandatory topical requirements.Promote the use of data analytics, AI, and technology-enabled audit techniques to enhance audit coverage, insight, and efficiency.Develop/refresh audit approaches & deliverables aligned to GIAS; support achievement of the IA strategy and ensure conformance readiness.Build and maintain strong, credible relationships with senior management and key stakeholders across the business.Collaborate with internal stakeholders to ensure compliance issues are directed at appropriate channels for investigation and resolution.APPLICATIONS (CV, COPIES OF QUALIFICATIONS AND ID IN ONE DOCUMENT) MUST BE UPLOADED ONTO THE VACANCY PORTAL ON THE INTRANET / HEAD OFFICE / VACANCIES / OR ON LET’S TALK.
