At DETSI we recognise, respect and value First Nations people and cultures.Your ContributionAs the Media Officer you will deliver creative, engaging content to promote the department's priorities and achievements in the media. You will have a nose for a great story that captures an audience's attention and be able to work collaboratively across the branch and the department to bring it to life.You'll be a key contributor to project teams, implementing proactive media plans and identifying opportunities to boost coverage using data and insights.You will manage media releases and incoming media inquiries, write compelling speeches for senior leaders, review data reports on your work and provide administrative support to the team, while contributing to a team culture of continuous improvement. The ideal candidate will possess a solid background in communications, journalismor public relations, demonstrate innovative thinking, and excel in collaborative, fast-paced environments.Your roleAs The Media Officer (A05) You Will Identify opportunities to proactively promote the department's priorities and achievements Research, write, review and edit media releases and media responses and othermedia materials Draft short or keynote speeches for the department and for the minister, including presentation materials Facilitate and track the management of media releases and responses between the Media Unit, business units, Deputy Directors-General and the Minister's office. Develop media opportunities for the Minister's Office Liaise with journalists on departmental matters Communicate critical public safety information during serious incidents including wildlife attacks and natural disasters Use data-driven insights to support the continuous improvement of the media team's output and impact, and generate reports on your work Participate in a shared out of hours on-call roster to manage media issues and requests outside normal office hours Foster a workplace culture that supports and promotes the interests of First Nations people and actively engage through our work to contribute to better outcomes for First Nations people.How To ApplyThe selection panel will assess your ability to perform the work required of the position based on your application and other selection processes which may includean interview and/or work test.
