A leading international proprietary trading firm is hiring a Japan‑based Telecom Engineer to build and run the wireless backbone that connects our trading systems to the markets. Real links. Real licenses. Real impact on how fast orders hit the book. Here’s the thing. This isn’t a “keep the lights on” role. It’s a senior, hands‑on position where you design, decide, and deliver. I’ve noticed the best people in roles like this want clear ownership and a direct line between their work and outcomes. That’s exactly what you get here. What you’ll do as the Senior Telecom EngineerDesign and build ultra‑low‑latency wireless networks across Japan. You’ll prepare and submit licenses and filings, work with MIC and related authorities, and keep everything compliant without slowing velocity.Lead site acquisition from first call to on‑air. That means canvassing, feasibility, permitting, and go‑live across rooftops and towers nationwide.Coordinate external partners. System integrators, construction firms, carriers, data centers. You set expectations, manage timelines, and keep quality high.Track competitor activity and tech developments in Japan’s telecom and wireless space. If there’s a faster route or a cleaner design, you’ll spot it early.Travel within Japan to oversee installs, maintenance, and upgrades. Some trips will be planned. Some will be “we need to fix this today.” I think that mix keeps the work interesting. What you bringDegree in Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications, Computer Science, or a closely related field. Equivalent experience works if you can show it.Strong knowledge of telecom networks with hands‑on experience in microwave, 4G, 5G, and carrier access.Experience working with Japanese regulators on radio or telecom frequency licenses. MIC Chief Telecom Engineer certification or similar is a strong plus.Proven project leadership. You’ve taken complex, multi‑party builds from idea to stable operations and you can tell us what you’d do differently next time.Comfort with high‑ownership environments. Non‑standard problems don’t scare you. You break them down and make progress.Language skills. Fluent Japanese and business‑level English so you can collaborate with teams across time zones.Curiosity and a bias for action. What strikes me most in the folks who thrive here is a mix of patience with process and impatience with latency. Why this role - Senior Telecom EngineerHigh base salary with exceptional performance‑based bonuses. I know comp matters when you carry responsibility. We treat it that way.Direct impact. The quality and speed of your network shows up in trading outcomes. You will see the result of your work.High trust, low bureaucracy. You’ll work closely with senior leadership and domain experts. Decisions get made quickly, then you get the room to build.Remote within Japan with flexibility to travel. We care that the work gets done well. Where you open your laptop most days is up to you.Tools and support that let you move fast without cutting corners. This surprised me when I joined a similar environment years back. The right gear changes everything.A quick reality checkThis role fits someone who likes solving hard, sometimes messy technical problems with real‑world constraints. Rooftops, permits, wind load, noise, fiber paths, frequency coordination. If that sentence made you nod, we should probably talk.
