Job OverviewService Manager – Medicine (Band 7)Frimley Health NHS Foundation TrustAre you an experienced operational leader ready to make a real difference in patient care? We are seeking a dynamic Service Manager to join our Medicine Directorate.This pivotal role provides strong leadership and a highly visible presence across the directorate, ensuring the delivery of safe, high-quality patient care and effective communication. You will drive service efficiency, enhance patient experience, and uphold best practice in safety, quality, and infection prevention and control.Working closely with the Operations Manager and Head of Nursing, you will support service development, workforce leadership, and delivery of key performance targets, including inpatient and outpatient waiting list management. You will play a central role in improving patient flow, meeting access standards, and ensuring services are responsive and sustainable.The post holder will be responsible for effective resource management, financial oversight, and supporting staff development to build high-performing teams. You will deputise for the wider operational team as required, contributing to strategic planning and continuous improvement initiatives.We are looking for a proactive, resilient leader with strong analytical skills, excellent communication, and a proven track record in operational management within healthcare.This role will involve cross-site working.Main duties of the jobTo support the operations manager in developing service development plans / business plans to align national direction/strategies and local priorities.The post holder will be responsible in ensuring that resources are used effectively and efficiently and work with the staff, leading and coaching them to maximise their potential in support of their future career options.The post holder in conjunction with the operations manager and head of nursing will ensure that patient safety is maintained to the highest level.The post holder will deputise for the operations manager as requiredSupport the delivery of access targets within the service through effective management of consultant leave and capacity & demand management in line with the Trust consultant leave policy.To track budgets of agreed delegated responsibility to enable monthly variance reporting.Working for our organisationFrimley Health NHS Foundation Trust is committed to being an inclusive and disability confident employer and has been awarded the Gold for the Armed Forces Employment Recognition Scheme.
