This is a rare and exciting opportunity to lead the operations of two of New Zealand’s most exclusive luxury lodges — one nestled on an 800-year-old native forest estate near Rotorua, the other overlooking the only Jack Nicklaus Signature golf course in the country, at Kinloch, Taupō. Together, these lodges offer a world-class blend of refined accommodation, high-end adventure, award-winning cuisine, and exceptional guest experiences. We are now seeking a seasoned General Manager to oversee both locations and ensure that operational excellence, team culture, and the guest journey are executed at the highest standard. About the Role:
You will be responsible for the end-to-end leadership of daily operations across both properties, reporting directly to the owner. This is a hands-on role, suited to a professional with proven luxury lodge or high-end hospitality management experience. You’ll be tasked with refining processes, inspiring teams, and delivering consistently outstanding guest experiences in line with strategic and financial goals. This role would ideally suit a dynamic individual who thrives in nature, understands top-tier service, and knows how to grow a brand around unique, location-driven experiences. Key Responsibilities:
Lead all lodge operations, ensuring the highest standard of service across both locations. Drive team performance, culture, and capability with strong, values-driven leadership. You will drive and execute the disciplines of the lodge to ensure sales growth and an excellence guest experience. Manage operational budgets, reporting, and forecasting in line with strategic targets. Oversee and refine guest experience touchpoints—from luxury stays to guided adventures. Identify service gaps, risks, or inefficiencies and take proactive steps to resolve them. Collaborate with chefs and hospitality teams to uphold and evolve the lodges’ culinary offering.
Support the creation and delivery of eco-tourism and recreational activities that embrace the 'great outdoors'. Maintain guest safety and satisfaction as top priorities at all times. Be an ambassador for the brand, culture, and natural heritage of the region. We’re Looking For: Minimum 5 years’ leadership experience in the luxury lodge or high-end hospitality sector. Proven ability to manage, motivate, and develop multi-disciplinary teams. Operational and commercial acumen – decision-making and problem-solving skills. Passion for nature, conservation, and outdoor recreation is beneficial. Excellent interpersonal, communication, and guest relationship-building skills. Be a great deliverer of experiential guest stays.
Must be legally entitled to work in New Zealand (NZ residency or valid work visa). What You’ll Get: A rare leadership opportunity in a world-class natural setting. The chance to shape and grow not one but two distinctive and prestigious properties. Work alongside a dedicated and passionate team committed to excellence. Accommodation may be provided for the right candidate or couple.
