Staff Accountant - Top Performing National Law Firm
Location: Washington DC
Base Salary: 80,000-100,000
Hybrid: 3 Days Per Week In Office
A leading law firm is seeking a Staff Accountant to join its growing finance team. This role offers a direct path for promotion to Senior Accountant and the opportunity to work on modernizing finance operations with automation and technology.

What You’ll Do
• Handle bank reconciliations and general ledger activity; maintain the chart of accounts
• Lead month-end and year-end close processes
• Manage the fixed asset subledger (additions, disposals, depreciation, compliance)
• Prepare/execute ACH and wire disbursements
• Coordinate state and local tax filings across jurisdictions; track deadlines and compliance
• Support external tax advisors during annual returns; assist with audits and surveys
• Manage trust account reconciliations and compliance
• Build ad hoc reports and provide analytical insights for leadership
• Contribute to the annual budgeting process and targeted tax research
• Improve SOPs and workflows with a focus on automation and technology adoption
What Will Help You Succeed (Requirements)
Required
• Bachelor’s in Accounting or Finance
• 3–5 years progressive accounting experience
• Strong general ledger knowledge and reconciliation skills
• Experience with multi-jurisdictional tax compliance and trust accounting
• Strong Excel skills (VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, SUMIFS, pivot tables, data analysis)
• Detail-driven, accurate, and tech-forward—always looking for ways to automate and improve
Preferred
• Prior experience in a law firm or professional services environment
• Experience with Elite 3E (highly preferred) or Aderant software
• Background working across multi-office/multi-state environments
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $80,000.00 - $95,000.00 per year
