A fast-growing European FinTech and one of Lithuania’s top EMIs — is on a mission to redefine how financial infrastructure is built and delivered. As part of their next strategic growth phase, they are bringing their Core Banking system fully in-house.They’re seeking a hands-on Staff Backend Engineer — the principal technical authority for this greenfield project. You’ll own the architecture, design, and long-term evolution of a system that will become the heart of their platform.🔍 Responsibilities:Lead the technical strategy and architecture for the new in-house Banking Core.Conduct the “build vs. buy vs. assemble” analysis and present data-driven recommendations.Design and implement a scalable, secure, and compliant backend platform aligned with long-term business goals.Define technology standards, frameworks, and tools for future development.Collaborate cross-functionally with business, compliance, and operations to translate requirements into technical solutions.Write and review mission-critical code, establish clean architecture patterns, and ensure maintainability.Drive cloud-native design (preferably AWS) and event-driven architecture for resilience and observability.Mentor and guide engineers joining the domain, championing technical excellence.Ensure long-term technical health, scalability, and cost efficiency of the Banking Core.🎓 Requirements:7+ years in backend engineering, with deep expertise in system design and technical leadership.Proven experience building or integrating Core Banking systems — deep understanding of ledgers, accounts, payments, and transaction flows.Strong proficiency in modern backend languages (Node.js / TypeScript, Java, or Go).Hands-on experience with distributed systems, microservices, and APIs.Familiarity with AWS serverless and cloud-native environments.Strategic mindset and ability to evaluate complex technical trade-offs.Excellent communication skills — comfortable aligning with both tech and business stakeholders.Product-driven attitude with a strong sense of ownership.✨ The Employer Offers:Competitive salary (€7,000–€9,000 gross) and flexibility for exceptional talent.Health insurance and wellness benefits, including a gym membership.Professional development budget (up to €1,000 per year for training or certifications).Hybrid or remote setup after the probation period.Modern top-floor office in Vilnius’ tallest business tower, with panoramic views and parking.Inclusive, flat hierarchy and fast decision-making culture.Regular team events, offsites, and social gatherings.Work with a passionate, ambitious team shaping the next era of European FinTech.If you’re ready to build the backbone of high-performance systems and shape the future of our platform — let’s talk! 🚀
