Job DescriptionECCO Gulf Majorel Qatar is seeking an experienced Storage and Backup Senior Specialist to join our dynamic IT team. This role is pivotal in ensuring the integrity, availability, and security of our data storage and backup systems. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing and optimizing storage solutions, ensuring data protection, and supporting disaster recovery processes.Lead the design, architecture, and deployment of secure, scalable, and resilient cloud and on-premises infrastructure solutions. Design, implement, and oversee enterprise storage and backup solutions across on-premises and cloud environments. Lead the evaluation, selection, and deployment of next-generation storage and data protection technologies. Manage storage and backup capacity planning, performance monitoring, and optimization. Establish and maintain data protection standards, policies, and disaster recovery procedures. Collaborate with infrastructure, security, and application teams to ensure data availability, integrity, and compliance. Automate provisioning, monitoring, and reporting for storage and backup environments. Ensure consistent data protection strategies across hybrid and multi-cloud platforms. Lead root cause analysis and remediation for complex storage and backup incidents. Collaborate with IT teams to integrate storage solutions with existing infrastructure. Maintain accurate documentation for architecture, configurations, and operational runbooks. Conduct regular audits and assessments to identify potential risks and areas for improvement. Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives. Stay updated with the latest industry trends and technologies to recommend enhancements. Required ProfileWe are looking for a candidate with a strong technical background and proven experience in storage and backup management. The ideal candidate will possess the following skills and qualifications:Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. Minimum of 10–12 years of total IT experience, with at least 5–7 years specializing in enterprise storage, backup, and disaster recovery management. Expertise in enterprise storage technologies — SAN, NAS, and Object Storage (Dell EMC, NetApp, HPE, Pure Storage, etc.)Proven experience designing, implementing, and leading hybrid (on-premises and cloud) storage and backup solutions. Deep knowledge of IaaS, PaaS, and SaaS storage and data protection architecture Proficiency in cloud-native storage and backup services (Azure Blob, Azure Files, AWS S3, EBS, Glacier, etc.). Strong experience with Backup, Replication, and Recovery solutions (Commvault, Veeam, Veritas NetBackup, Azure Backup, Rubrik, etc.). Hands-on experience with performance optimization, capacity management, and automation of data protection operations. Experience integrating and managing storage monitoring tools (SolarWinds, Zabbix, NetApp Active IQ, or vendor-native platforms). Strong scripting and automation experience using PowerShell, Python, or Ansible for storage and backup operations. Knowledge of tiered storage, archival solutions, and cost optimization strategies for long-term data retention. Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills. Comprehensive understanding of encryption, key management, and compliance frameServicess (GDPR, ISO 27001). Expertise in cross-region replication, DR setup, and resiliency solutions (Azure Site Recovery, Zerto, etc.). Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment. Ability to manage multiple priorities and lead cross-functional technical initiatives. Strong communication and documentation skills. Excellent communication, reporting, and stakeholder engagement skills. Certificates: Attain one or more advanced certifications from the following domainsMicrosoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate (AZ-104) /Azure Storage Specialist.
