The Strategic Buyer is responsible for sourcing, negotiating, and purchasing goods and services in alignment with organizational requirements. This position ensures timely delivery of quality materials at competitive prices, fosters strong supplier relationships, and supports cross-functional business needs in line with overall strategic objectives.Summary:Burlington ON (onsite)Report to VP of Engineering and ManufacturingPharma turn-key systemsInternational work environmentCompany:Our client operates within the manufacturing sector, providing specialized solutions to meet industry standards. The organization serves a broad market with a focus on delivering high-quality engineered systems and related services. The North American branch functions as a key hub for sales, engineering, production, and customer support across the region. Job Responsibilities:Identify, evaluate, and select suppliers based on quality, cost, delivery, and service. Adhere to internal procurement procedures and develop new processes where needed. Negotiate pricing, terms, and conditions to optimize total cost of ownership. Monitor supplier performance and resolve delivery or quality issues; implement vendor rating and risk assessment processes. Collaborate with internal teams (engineering, production, logistics) to align procurement with operational needs. Maintain accurate records of purchases and supplier performance. Stay informed on market trends, material availability, and alternative sourcing options. Support cost-reduction initiatives and continuous improvement in procurement processes. Oversee purchasing department personnel and manage daily operations.Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:Degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Engineering, or related field.Minimum 10 years of experience in purchasing or procurement roles.Strong negotiation and communication skills.Proficiency with ERP systems and MS Office (especially Excel).Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.Knowledge of procurement best practices and contractual terms.Excellent written and verbal communication skills.Strong organizational and interpersonal skills; team-oriented mindset.Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.Innovative problem-solving capabilities.Bonus Points If You Have:Experience in Engineering-to-Order environments.Familiarity with ISO standards or sustainable sourcing practices.Knowledge of international suppliers and logistics.Compensation:Base salary: $100,000–$110,000 (DOE)
