We are now seeking a Strength Analyst to reinforce our Mechanical Design & Structural Analysis team in Gothenburg. In this role, you will work closely with experienced colleagues across the globe and contribute to developing high-performing structural solutions for marine, port solutions and navy applications. You will have the opportunity to work on complex engineering challenges and support projects from tender phase to delivery—shaping the future of cargo handling systems with world-leading technology.YOU WILLJoining MacGregor as a Strength Analyst, you will play a key role within the calculation area and work in close collaboration with design engineers, project managers and external suppliers. You will be responsible for structural strength calculations and simulations using FEM, shock and fatigue analysis methods. In parallel projects, you will support product development, tender work and contract projects while ensuring design quality and compliance with classification rules.Your main responsibilities will include:Perform structural calculations and simulations using FEM, shock and fatigue methodsReview and interpret classification rules, codes and industry standardsDefine load cases and strength criteria for individual equipment and ship structure interfacesBe part of design reviews and prepare calculation reports to classification societies and other stakeholdersCoordinate and review work from subcontracted calculation teamsDevelop and optimize templates, scripts and calculation tools (e.g. Mathcad, Excel, Python)Support internal functions with heavy load case analysis, damage assessment and best structural practicesContribute to process development, best practice implementation and continuous improvement within the departmentYou will work in cross-functional projects with customized equipment for merchant vessels, ports and naval applications. Some travel is expected (approximately less than 20%).YOU AREWe believe that you are a highly skilled and proactive calculation engineer with deep understanding of structural mechanics and simulation-based design. You enjoy solving complex technical challenges and have a strong interest in applying classification rules and engineering standards in real-world design.You excel in collaboration across multicultural teams, yet confident working independently - especially in projects requiring confidentiality such as navy assignments. By being driven, structured and detail-oriented, you maintain accuracy while managing multiple tasks in parallel.To succeed in this role, you bring:Minimum 5 years’ hands-on experience with structural analysis in the marine industry or similarProficiency in FEM-based calculations and simulations (ANSYS)Experience with shock, fatigue and calculationsA background in welded steel structures in a marine environment is considered an advantage.Knowledge of rules and regulations from classification societies (e.g. DNV, ABS, IACS), navy standards is an advantageExperience working with Ansys workbench and Mathlab/Matlab, Mathcad and ExcelGood communication and presentation skillsMSc in Mechanical Engineering or Naval ArchitectureFluent in English (Swedish is a strong plus)As a person, you are energetic, analytical and solution-oriented, with a strong sense of ownership and a collaborative mindset.
