Location: Port Harcourt, Nigeria (with occasional travel to ports and client sites). Relocation support to Port Harcourt can be provided. Reports to: Head of Maritime Business DevelopmentJob SummaryFieldbase Services Limited is seeking a dynamic and technically inclined Technical Business Development Officer to drive engagement, sales, and support for our growing portfolio of maritime electronics and digital connectivity solutions. You will serve as the link between our technical solutions and the client’s operational needs — supporting presales activities, building relationships with procurement and technical teams, and ensuring a smooth onboarding experience.This role is ideal for someone with technical know-how, commercial acumen, and a deep interest in the maritime industry — especially those passionate about shaping the future of vessel connectivity and compliance.Key Responsibilities1. Client Engagement & Technical SupportAct as the primary technical liaison during client engagements, from first contact through post-sale support.Conduct product demonstrations and presentations to both technical and non-technical audiences.Support client onboarding and implementation of maritime technologies including shipboard electronics, connectivity devices, and safety systems.2. Business Development & Relationship ManagementBuild and manage strong, long-term relationships with procurement departments, technical managers, fleet operators, and shipowners.Proactively identify and pursue new business opportunities in the shipping, oil & gas, and offshore services sectors.Represent the company at client sites, trade shows, and industry events.3. Industry Knowledge & InsightProvide operational and regulatory insights that informs product development roadmap.Stay up to date with maritime regulations (e.g., SOLAS, ISM Code, MARPOL) and communicate implications to both internal and external stakeholders.Share market intelligence and client feedback to help improve product offerings.4. Technical UnderstandingPossess or be willing to develop a strong understanding of maritime electronics including radio communications (MF/HF/VHF/UHF), navigation and positioning systems (GPS, AIS, radar), automation and surveillance, as well as onboard entertainment and integration platforms.Ability to discuss and troubleshoot basic technical issues with clients or internal engineers.Experience working with fleet management systems, safety equipment, or connectivity hardware is an advantage.Candidate RequirementsTechnical & Sales SkillsBachelor's degree in Engineering, Maritime Studies, or a related technical or business field.Prior experience in selling or supporting technical products, especially within the marine, oil & gas, or ICT industries.Skilled at breaking down technical jargon and confidently presenting solutions to senior stakeholders.Demonstrated ability to close sales, build trust with clients, and deliver commercial value.Soft SkillsStrong communication skills (both written and spoken); professional email etiquette and clear report writing.Natural conversationalist with strong listening and interpersonal skills.Self-driven, goal-oriented, and able to work with minimal supervision in a fast-paced environment.Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams including engineering, operations, and customer support.Desirable ExtrasFamiliarity with international maritime regulations like SOLAS will be a strong advantage.Comfort using tools such as CRM systems, Zoom, Teams, and cloud-based software.Ability to travel within Nigeria and internationally as needed.RemunerationCompetitive salary based on experience.Performance bonuses and commission on sales.Opportunity to grow with a fast-scaling maritime technology company operating at the cutting edge of vessel connectivity in West Africa.
