Technical Specialist

The Backup Engineer is responsible for the implementation, administration, and support of enterprise data backup and recovery solutions. This role ensures data availability, integrity, and security across physical and virtual environments while aligning with business continuity and disaster recovery requirements.Key Responsibilities: Deploy, and maintain enterprise backup and recovery infrastructure (Commvault, Veeam, Metallic Cloud, NetBackup and Veritas). Support to customer on daily basis Servicedesk tickets. Monitor backup performance and troubleshoot job failures or performance bottlenecks. Manage retention policies, storage allocation, deduplication, replication, and immutability configurations. Support disaster recovery (DR) and business continuity (BCP) strategies by validating backup and restore processes. Coordinate with application, database, and virtualization teams to ensure consistent backup coverage (VMs, physical servers, NAS, cloud, databases, etc.). Maintain backup documentation including configurations, schedules, policies, and DR procedures. Conduct regular test restores to verify backup reliability and data integrity. Manage backup storage systems such as disk libraries, tape libraries, and cloud repositories. Implement and support data encryption, air-gapping, and ransomware protection measures. Participate in capacity planning and performance tuning of backup infrastructure. Collaborate with vendors and support teams for issue resolution and product updates. Ensure compliance with organizational data protection and retention policies. Requirements Degree in IT or related field (or equivalent work experience). 2-3 years of experience with backup and recovery technologies (e.g., Veeam, Veritas, Commvault). Knowledge of storage and virtualization technologies (SAN, NAS, VMware, Hyper-V). Strong problem-solving abilities with attention to detail in monitoring and troubleshooting. Backup-related certifications in Veeam, Veritas and Commvault. Soft Skills: Strong documentation and communication skills. Ability to work independently or in a team environment. Detail-oriented with strong organizational and time-management abilities. Analytical thinking with a proactive approach to problem resolution.
