Tokyo International UniversityTokyo International University (TIU) offers undergraduate and graduate programs both in Japanese and English. The English track degree program, called E-Track is taught entirely in English and attracts students from around the world as well as from Japan. The curriculum of E-Trak enables students to cultivate a broad educational background and deepen their knowledge in three specialized programs of Business Economics, Digital Business & Innovation and International Relations. In addition, we shall initiate a new undergraduate program of Data Science & AI starting in the academic year of 2026.More details about TIU E-track program and its faculty members can be found here: https://www.tiu.ac.jp/etrack/ and https://tiu-iis.org/members/.The PositionQualified candidates are sought for a position, with concentration areas as follows.Data Science, Computer Science, AI, and Discrete Mathematics/Optimization.Requirements: These positions are open for Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor level, depending on qualifications. The candidate must have a PhD in Computer Science/Artificial Intelligence/Discrete Mathematics/Statistics or related areas and be able to teach any course related to the concentration areas stated above. The courses offered include the subjects such as data structures and algorithms, system design, discrete mathematics and optimization, machine learning, natural language processing, generative AI, and AI engineering. Candidates must have some proven research record and/or practical experience.Starting date: April 1, 2026 or September 1, 2026Candidates with a proven track record will have to provide evidence of recent and expected publications. Recent PhD graduates and ones expecting to graduate before September 2026 are encouraged to apply. Successful candidate will be offered either a tenured or tenure-track position depending on qualifications. The tenure-track system refers to a system under which a newly hired full-time faculty member transitions to tenure status after successfully completing a tenure track period and the tenure screening process within a maximum of five years.Content Of Work Including TeachingThe teaching will be for undergraduate students, involving the preliminary, basic, and advanced materials. The primal teaching responsibility of this position is for Data Science & AI program, but the related teaching for the Digital Business & Innovation Program will be assigned if necessary.TIU operates on a semester basis and each course lesson is held twice per week over the duration of 13 weeks per semester (each lesson lasts for 105 minutes); the successful candidate will be in charge of three courses per semester. The classes will take place on both Kawagoe Campus in Saitama and Ikebukuro Campus in Tokyo. It takes about an hour to move between the two campuses. The individual research office space will be assigned on Kawagoe Campus. Spring semester is from April to July, and Fall semester is from September to January.Fluency in English is required, and knowledge of Japanese would be an asset. Responsibilities include advising and working with students from diverse backgrounds as well as undertaking quality research.Salary/Compensation/Research SupportA competitive salary is offered.
