Job Description

BackgroundGlobal Peace Development (GPD) is implementing the Promoting Agropastoralism Reconciliation and Resilience for Sustainable Livelihood and Peace (PARSULP) project in Benue, Kaduna, Katsina, and Plateau States.As part of the project’s livelihood and resilience component, GPD seeks to facilitate 1-day Cooperative Strengthening Training farmers and herders’ wives in Buruku, Soba, Daura, and Riyom LGAs.The aim is to build cooperative skills that promote joint planning, collaborative resource use, climate-smart livelihood practices, and peaceful coexistence.Objective of the AssignmentThe consultant will design and deliver one-day cooperative training sessions in each assigned LGA to strengthen:Group organization and cooperative managementShared resource planning among farmers and herdersJoint livelihood decision-makingBasic financial literacy for community groupsLeadership, communication, and trust-buildingCooperative models that support peace and resilienceScope of WorkThe consultant will:Review relevant project documents and training guidelines from GPD.Conduct a rapid pre-assessment of cooperative structures within the assigned wards per LGA.Develop training content tailored to low-literacy, rural farming and herding communities.Deliver the 1-day cooperative training using participatory and culturally appropriate methods.Facilitate group discussions on:Cooperative formation and governanceShared natural resource managementClimate-smart farming/herding practicesConflict-sensitive group decision-makingDocument attendance, key issues raised, and participant commitments.Submit a training report with gender-disaggregated data, photos, and recommendations.Expected DeliverablesTraining Outline and Methodology (submitted before the session)Training Delivery in the assigned LGAAttendance Sheets with Gender DisaggregationPhotographs and Field NotesA Training Report including:Summary of activitiesParticipant feedbackLessons learnedAction points for follow-upDuration and TimelineThe assignment covers four LGAs, but each consultant may be assigned one LGA only.Duration per LGA: 1-day pre-assessment of cooperatives, 1 day training + 1 day documentationTotal engagement: 3 days per consultantPeriod: December 3 2025Required QualificationsMinimum of 3–5 years’ experience in community training, cooperative formation, rural livelihoods, and peacebuilding.Demonstrated experience working with women farmers, and women pastoralistsGood understanding of agro-pastoral conflict dynamics in Northern and Central Nigeria.Proficiency in local languages (Hausa, Tiv, Berom, Fulani—depending on LGA).Strong facilitation and participatory training skills.Ability to produce clear reports with basic documentation (photos, attendance, summaries).Duty StationsConsultants will work in one of the following LGAs:Buruku LGA – Benue StateSoba LGA – Kaduna StateDaura LGA – Katsina StateRiyom LGA – Plateau StateLocal candidates are particularly encouraged to apply.8.
