As part of our unique approach, we help those around us unpack the complexities of urban development and use graphic design as fuel for these conversations, communicating complex ideas visually.2.0 Job DescriptionSiv-ik has an exciting opportunity for an Urban Design Technician/Creative Specialist to join our London office in one of Ontario’s fastest growing CMA. The successful candidate will be an integral member of the team, employing technical knowledge and a creative approach to develop and produce clear and compelling content, layouts, and finished products (e.g., reports, presentation boards, etc.) to support our team’s planning and development projects. We are open to this role being filled by an entry-level or intermediate-level professional. Working under the direction of the firm’s Urban Design Lead, you will provide graphics support to the planning team for various aspects of development projects including creation of preliminary development concepts, conceptual site plans, various explanatory graphics as well as community engagement packages.3.0 Core ResponsibilitiesDesign document layouts and production processes to support the delivery of a wide range of visual assets/ materials and produce documents from design concept to final format. Work with the team to continuously develop new and creative public engagement strategies that are relevant and project specific. Create 2-D graphics and produce and/or help provide direction and coordination of 3-D models and visualizations. Create graphic design materials for print and online environments, including websites, information postcards, signage, advertisements, and digital marketing assets. Contribute to the development, maintenance and updating of graphics, visual identity, and brand guidelines across projects. Be current by generating engaging, memorable visual and copy concepts by researching design trends and best practices, new technologies and applications. Create, update, and maintain project websites for community engagement purposes4.0 What We’re Looking ForA curiosity/passion for planning and urban design in the mid-sized City context. A desire to influence positive change in the profession and the community. An ability to work in a self-directed and highly collaborative team environment. An individual who is responsible, organized, accountable, is committed to excellence on all levels, and takes pride in their work.Strong graphic and information design skills with advanced proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop). Proficiency in 3D modelling tools (i.e., Sketchup)Additional technical proficiency with AutoCAD, and GIS will be considered an asset. Proficiency in the Wix Editor (website editing) platform would be considered a significant asset.5.0 What You Should Submit (submit to jsmolarek@siv-ik.ca)An up-to-date ResumeA Portfolio of Recent WorkA Three Slide Presentation (in PDF) Highlighting the Following:[Slide 1] Tell us a bit about you[Slide 2] Highlight your favourite project (academic or work)[Slide 3] Why would you choose to work for Siv-ik?
