Job Description

Org. Setting and ReportingThis position is located at the Programme Office for Barbados (POBRB), United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) in Bridgetown, Barbados. The incumbent will work under the direct supervision of the Regional Representative of the UNODC Regional Office for Central America and the Caribbean in Panama City (ROPAN) and the UNODC Programme Management Officer in Bridgetown, Barbados on the implementation of the regional project on Strengthening police accountability and professionalism in selected Caribbean countries to promote trust and ensure equal access to justice for all (Regional Police Modernization Programme).

This position follows UNODC mandates and the Strategic Framework for Latin America and the Caribbean with emphasis on the following thematic areas and programmes: Crime prevention and criminal justice: inter alia, supporting criminal justice reform (police reform, prosecution service, judiciary, access to legal defence and legal aid, prison reform, alternatives to imprisonment); justice for children, support and assistance to victims. Research and Trend Analysis: inter alia, providing statistics and analyses of the world drug and crime problems, analysing the evolution of transnational drugs and crime issues; expert advice to drug-testing laboratories and forensic institutions. Policy Support activities:

inter alia, directing and coordinating policy support functions; leading and coordinating fund-raising strategy; carrying out media and outreach work.
