The cover letter should clearly outline your qualifications for this position.More information about our hiring process can be found on the website under the Hiring Process menu.Job InformationDirectorate: Strategy & Communications Section: Business PerformancePay Group: Six (6) - Under Review Job Code:10152987Work Location: Central - 19 Fairmont AvenueSupervisor's Title: Sr. Geospatial Data AnalystEffective Date: November 2025Overall PurposeThe User Experience Designer is responsible for creating user interfaces that are both visually appealing and functionally intuitive, with focus on interaction and visual design.This position supports the police service’s mission by enhancing public understanding of safety data, fostering communication with the community, and promoting collaborative crime prevention strategies through the delivery of accessible and meaningful information.Major ResponsibilitiesInteraction DesignDesign and iterate user interfaces for the safety data portal, ensuring an accessible and intuitive user experience.Create wireframes, prototypes, and high-fidelity designs that align with user needs and project goals.Design SystemDevelop visually appealing and consistent design elements, including icons, colour schemes, and typography, to enhance the overall aesthetic of the safety data portal.Ensure consistent application of brand elements, typography and other artifacts.Collaborate with the analytics team to maintain brand consistency and visual identity.User-Centered DesignAdvocate for a user-centered design approach, incorporating feedback from user testing and research into design iterations.Work closely with the User Experience Researcher to understand user personas and integrate findings into the design process.Prototyping And TestingCreate interactive prototypes to demonstrate and test design concepts with stakeholders and end-users.Participate in usability testing sessions to gather feedback and refine designs based on user insights.CollaborationCollaborate with cross-functional teams, including engineers, developers, analysts and user experience researchers, to ensure the feasibility and implementation of design solutions.Engage in design reviews, providing constructive feedback and incorporating input from team members.Major Responsibilities (continued)Major Responsibilities (continued)Statement Of Required QualificationsEducation and ExperienceA three (3) year post-secondary degree or diploma in graphic design, interaction design, visual communication, or other design-related fields or relevant experience.Minimum three years (3) experience working with creating design solutions and interactive prototypes.Experience and formal training combined may substitute for stipulated education requirements.LanguageEnglish – fluency in oral, reading, and writing.Certifications and LicencesN/AIn service TrainingThe following mandatory training and education is provided to all employees of the OPS:Occupational Health & Safety.Respectful Workplace.Violence in the Workplace.
