Job Description

MissionWalrus Foundation's mission is to advance the adoption of the Walrus decentralized storage and retrieval platform. VisionEmpower Web3 builders by providing frictionless, decentralized storage infrastructure that’s deeply integrated into the ecosystems they rely on. We aim to make decentralized storage a native part of every developer's toolkit — unlocking new possibilities for open, resilient applications. Role OverviewThe Chief of Staff will serve as a key strategic partner to the Managing Director, driving operational effectiveness, internal coordination, and leadership support across the foundation.

This is a high-impact role requiring strong project management, emotional intelligence, and the ability to bring clarity to fast-moving, multi-disciplinary work. This person will help organize and streamline internal processes, track critical initiatives, manage planning cycles, and ensure teams are aligned and delivering. They’ll also support culture, communication, and leadership development as Walrus scales.

Key ResponsibilitiesOperational ManagementDesign and lead regular team meetings, daily standups, and internal check-insCreate and manage systems for project tracking, OKRs, and cross-team accountabilityEnsure Slack, Notion, and other internal tools are organized, up to date, and usefulOversee progress toward deliverables and keep stakeholders aligned and on trackDrive improvements to internal processes and workflows, recommending adjustments as neededProgram & Team OversightMaintain visibility into all active initiatives across teamsSupport coordination between technical, program, and leadership functionsHire and manage project or program managers as the organization growsDesign the content of internal planning sessions, offsites, and away days and in some cases lead these sessionsStrategic & Leadership SupportAct as a sounding board to the Managing Director on business operations and team dynamicsSurface risks, blind spots, and missed opportunities before they escalateContribute to leadership planning and suggest improvements in structure and communicationsBe a reliable thought partner who can step in when priorities shift or challenges ariseStakeholder & Communication SupportAssist with communication across internal and external stakeholdersPrepare materials or facilitate discussions that help keep teams and partners alignedHelp identify areas where teams need clarity, resources, or accountabilityIdeal Candidate ProfileRequiredStrong background in project and program management, with experience in consulting or agency practices.

Although Walrus Foundation does have have Clients it does require someone with experience of consequences of missing deadlines, how to kick off workstreams and progress them in a timely and focused manner, with a sense of urgencyExperience in startup environments helpful to demonstrate an understanding of perfect is the enemy of good, but judgement in what does need to be high calibre and what can evolve over time is essentialDemonstrated ability to manage complex, cross-functional projects on tight timelinesHigh emotional intelligence and confident interpersonal skillsComfortable stepping into a range of responsibilities — from running meetings to unblocking teamsExcellent organizational habits and attention to detailExperience with planning frameworks (OKRs, KPIs) and common tools (Slack, Notion, dashboards)Experience of communicating and managing many different stakeholders, at different levels, all with different priorities and calls on their attentionAbility to put together good looking and thoughtful presentations and documents quicklyPreferredExperience in Web3, crypto, or open-source ecosystemsFamiliarity with team operations, leadership planning, and internal tooling designPrior experience in a Chief of Staff, BizOps, or operations-focused leadership roleWhat Success Looks LikeTeams are aligned and delivering work on timeInternal tools and systems are efficient and actively usedLeadership is supported, well-informed, and focusedTeam communication is clear, timely, and actionableCompany rituals and processes run smoothly, with a sense of cohesion and momentum
