Weeks after the conclusion of the Kirkland Lake trial, Hoggard abandoned his bid to appeal his sexual assault conviction before Canada’s top court. Hoggard is currently serving his five-year sentence after the Court of Appeal for Ontario upheld his conviction in August of last year. In the documentary, Baker says the trial was as traumatizing as the assault. “It’s the exact same feeling, amplified in front of a room full of strangers and [Hoggard] and his wife,” she said.
