Along with items for boxes the project assembles, “we happily accept fully made boxes,” either wrapped or unwrapped, she said. “We really take anything they’re willing to give, as long as it’s a new, unused product.” The project also receives financial support from businesses and service organizations, Rayson said. The boxes typically are distributed to the Inn of the Good Shepherd Lodge, the Women’s Interval Home, The Centre, The Haven, the local Brain Injury Association, Ohana Landing and “a few other agencies,” Rayson said. “A lot of them send thank you notes from their clients,” she said. “They are just so wonderful to see. It just touches my heart.” Last year, Annabelle returned home from university for the holidays in time to be part of two of the deliveries, Rayson said. “We’re hoping she’s home to do some deliveries again.” “It’s such an incredible thing to do to be able to give back to my community because Sarnia is such a wonderful place, and I feel it has given so much to me,” Cyndi said. At the same time, she said, many in the community are struggling. “It’s incredible to know that I’m making a small difference,” Rayson said. “If everyone can do that then the world will be such a better place.”
