‘They called it dirty kidney’: Rohini Acharya’s fresh outburst as Lalu family feud explodes

A day after she created a flutter in Bihar's political circles with a cryptic social media post, Rohini Acharya, daughter of RJD patriarch Lalu Prasad Yadav, on Sunday raised a series of allegations against her family members, saying she was abused, humilated and threatened by them. In a detailed post on X, Acharya said she had to endure this insult as she was not ready to compromise on her self-respect. 'Yesterday, a daughter, a sister, a married woman, a mother was humiliated, filthy abuses were hurled at her, a slipper was raised to hit her. I did not compromise on my self-respect, I did not surrender the truth, and solely because of this, I had to endure this insult,' she said. The emotionally-charged post further read: 'Yesterday, a daughter, out of compulsion, left behind her crying parents and sisters and came away; they tore me away from my maternal home. They left me orphaned'. 'I pray that none of you ever have to walk my path, and no house should have a daughter-sister like Rohini,' she added. In another post, she further sharpened her attack on her family, alleging that they had called the kidney she had donated to her father, Lalu Prasad, a few years ago 'dirty'. Acharya said she was accused of taking crores of rupees and a ticket to contest the election by donating her 'dirty kidney' to her father. 'I got my father to have my dirty kidney transplanted, and today I am told that the same kidney is a curse,' she said. The 46-year-old had unsuccessfully contested last year's Lok Sabha polls from Saran. A doctor by qualification, she later chose to become a homemaker and settled with her Singapore-based husband. On Saturday, hours after the Bihar assembly election results were declared, Acharya announced that she was 'quitting politics' and 'disowning her family'. In a surprise post on X, she fired a salvo at Sanjay Yadav and Rameez—two close aides of her brother Tejashwi Yadav—holding them responsible for the party's debacle in the polls. 'I am quitting politics, and I am disowning my family. This is what Sanjay Yadav and Rameez had asked me to do, and I am taking all the blame,' she said. Later, while talking to reporters at Patna airport in the evening, Acharya alleged that she was thrown out of the house for questioning Tejashwi's associates. 'I don't have a family anymore. Go ask Sanjay, Rameez and Tejashwi Yadav. They have thrown me out of the family because they don't want to take responsibility,' she snapped when reporters asked about her post.
