Deputy Premier and Special Minister of State Kyam Maher today announced the establishment of an “expert panel” to review the state’s lobbying laws, saying that South Australia “is leading the way in democratic reform in getting money out of politics and helping restore trust in politics”. “We want to make sure South Australians can feel comfortable that in terms of the decisions their government makes, they are based on the best interests of South Australians, not on vested interests,” he said. According to Maher, the review aimed to make South Australia’s lobbyist laws “fit for purpose”, with the review panel tasked with making recommendations for reform. The panel would include Justice Mark Livesey, who is president of the Court of Appeal, alongside Flinders University adjunct professor Peter Sandeman and Adelaide University deputy vice chancellor (academic) John Williams, who on Monday gave evidence to a Senate inquiry about the “unprecedented” merger of the universities of Adelaide and South Australia. Asked if the review would cover groups who joined a protest outside Parliament House last night supporting a bill to reform South Australia’s abortion laws, Maher said, “Some of the ways that we’ve seen people campaign outside of parliament have been regrettable”. “I think some of the methods, some of the tactics, some of the vilification that has been used outside of Parliament, if people step back and have a look at it, I think they’d probably be ashamed of themselves in terms of specific ways that people chose to campaign, the way they chose to treat this sensitive topic,” he said. InDaily revealed yesterday that followers of anti-abortion campaigner and law professor Joanna Howe, who helped draft the bill, were encouraged to “buy words”, with a prize if the words came up in last night’s abortion debate. Howe did not respond to InDaily‘s questions regarding the “game”. However, Maher insisted that the review was not “as a result of any specific concern”. “This is as a result of wanting to keep to the forefront, wanting to make sure our laws are as fit for purpose as they can be, and to keep that mantle that South Australia has of a leader in those democratic reforms,” he said. Asked what kind of groups might be covered by lobbying laws, Maher said this would be considered by the review panel. He said the review might look into what activities are covered by lobbying laws and public disclosure requirements. Maher said he hoped the review would be wrapped up by the end of the year. “These reforms will help keep our elections fair and keep the democracy where it belongs – in the hands of the people,” Premier Peter Malinauskas said when the reforms came into force in July this year. Today’s review also comes after the Independent Commission Against Corruption’s (ICAC) report into lobbying and influence in South Australia was tabled in State Parliament last August. The report was based on work conducted by the commission since early 2023 and made 31 recommendations, including that ministers and shadow ministers “be required to include attendance at networking events, award nights, political fundraising events and other like functions in ‘activity disclosure records’.” Former Commissioner Ann Vanstone, who led ICAC when the report was tabled, resigned on September 6 2024, just four years into her seven-year term, criticising changes to the ICAC Act which she claimed “damaged the scheme, under the guise of making it more ‘effective and efficient’.”

Australia’s unemployment rate has plunged to 4.3 per cent, further diminishing hopes of more Reserve Bank rate cuts as the labour market shows signs of ongoing strength. About 42,000 jobs were added to the economy in October, while the number of unemployed peopled fell by 17,000, the Australian Bureau of Statistics revealed on Thursday. The unemployment rate fell by 20 basis points, unwinding a commensurate spike the month prior. “The October unemployment rate is in line with June, July, and August 2025,” ABS head of labour statistics Sean Crick said. The jump in employment exceeded economist forecasts of about 20,000 jobs. Analysts and the RBA anticipated unemployment to edge down to 4.4 per cent. In their latest economic forecasts released in November, RBA staff predicted the unemployment rate would remain stable at 4.4 per cent for the foreseeable future. Several indicators, such as low underemployment, an above-average share of firms struggling to find workers, a high ratio of vacancies to unemployed workers and strong growth in unit labour costs suggested the labour market remained tight, the bank said. Full time employment rose by 55,000, while part-time employment fell by 13,000. The participation rate held steady at 67.0 per cent. Despite the fall in unemployment, the trend since the start of 2025 has been one of a distinct gradual softening in labour market conditions. After inflation was substantially higher than RBA forecasts in the September quarter, today’s surprise result lends further weight to the idea that the economy is running near capacity and inflationary pressures are not going away. How jobs and inflation data continues to unfold will play a crucial role in whether the RBA can afford to cut interest rates again in 2026, or whether it deems conditions too tight to afford any more relief for borrowers.

Rob Gronkowski Debates The Greatest Catch From His Playing Career

What is Rob Gronkowski's best catch of all time? Not even Gronkowski can decide. But when the all-time great tight end returned to New England after signing a ceremonial one-day contract to retire as a member of the Patriots on Wednesday, he posed two options. One was a catch against the Buffalo Bills, the other — a grab against the Denver Broncos. In the catch against the Bills, which occurred in Week 16 of the 2017 NFL season, Tom Brady connected with Gronkowski in the front corner of the end zone for a touchdown as the tight end broke free of Buffalo defensive back Micah Hyde to reel in the ball with his right paw. The catch tied the game at 10, and the Patriots used the momentum to build a 37-16 victory. "I always love to stick it to them," Gronkowski said, making reference to the fact that he grew up in the Buffalo area. The catch against the Broncos came in the fourth quarter of a game on Nov. 2, 2014, essentially sealing a 43-21 win for the Patriots. Brady rifled a pass across the middle of the field, and Gronkowski reached up his left arm, the one he had broken in the 2013 playoffs, to haul in the pass. He was taken down on the 1-yard line, but scored on the following play. "I caught it with my broken forearm," Gronkowski said. "[Tom] threw it up there and I just turned around, and just one-handed and brought it in." Gronkowski had a great week back in New England seven years after playing his final snap for the team. "It's great being back here, all the memories are flowing," he said. Want great stories delivered right to your inbox? Photos as the southern lights dazzle skies across Australia

The southern lights, also known as aurora australis, danced across the skies in a majestic display of pinks, yellows and purples on Wednesday, November 12. The Australian Space Weather Forecasting Centre issued an Aurora Alert, and it was visible in locations as far north as Queensland. The sky was lit up in hues of purple, pink and red as the severe geomagnetic storm hit. Did you snap a photo? Email them to news@acm.media.com.au to be added to the community photo gallery. If you missed the show, the Bureau of Meteorology has reportedly confirmed there is a high chance the southern lights will be visible once again tonight. How to catch the lights The aurora australis is triggered by geomagnetic storms that are caused by interactions of charged particles from the sun with the atmosphere of the Earth, according to the Bureau of Meteorology. Keep your eyes on the sky just after nightfall. For the best view, find a dark location and hope for little cloud cover. While some colours may be visible to the naked eye, the best view is usually obtained through a camera with a long exposure.

4.6 magnitude earthquake strikes Afghanistan

Kabul [Afghanistan], November 13 (ANI): An earthquake of magnitude 4.6 struck Afghanistan in the early hours of Thursday as reported by the National Center for Seismology (NCS). In a post on X, the NCS said that the earthquake occurred at 02:20 AM IST (Indian Standard Time). "EQ of M: 4.6, On: 13/11/2025 02:20:26 IST, Lat: 36.43 N, Long: 71.20 E, Depth: 140 Km, Location: Afghanistan." On November 4, a powerful earthquake rattled northern Afghanistan, killing at least 27 people and injuring 956 more, according to Sharafat Zaman Amar, the spokesperson for Taliban's Ministry of Public Health. The tremor also damaged one of the country's most beautiful mosques, CNN reported.Families were jolted awake in the early hours of Monday when the 6.3-magnitude quake struck near Mazar-i-Sharif, one of the most populated cities in the north of the country, at a shallow depth of 28 kilometers (17.4 miles), the United States Geological Survey said, as per CNN.Afghanistan has a history of powerful earthquakes, and the Hindu Kush Mountain range is a geologically active area where quakes occur every year, according to the Red Cross.Afghanistan sits on numerous fault lines between the Indian and the Eurasian tectonic plates, with a fault line also running directly through Herat. Its location on several active fault lines along the collision zone between the Indian and Eurasian tectonic plates makes it a seismically active region. These plates meet and collide, causing frequent seismic activity. As per the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (UNOCHA), Afghanistan remains highly vulnerable to natural disasters, including seasonal flooding, landslides and earthquakes. These frequent earthquakes in Afghanistan cause damage to vulnerable communities, which are already grappling with decades of conflict and underdevelopment and have left them with little resilience to cope with multiple simultaneous shocks, UNOCHA noted. Jameis Winston Drops 'Hamilton' Reference to Show Excitement for First Giants Start

Jameis Winston is ready for his Broadway moment. Not only is Winston starting his first game of the 2025 NFL season when the New York Giants take on the Green Bay Packers, but he's doing it in the "Greatest City in the World." "I want fans to know that I'm going to do my best. Obviously, I'm going to have fun, but I'm going to execute — have a surgical execution — and just play ball, man," Winston began when he told reporters what he wanted them to know about him before he broke into song. "This is something I've been doing since I've been four years old. Now, I get to do it in the greatest city in the world. I'm gonna be singing it with my son." "It's the greatest city in the world!" Winston sang again. "That's a 'Hamilton' reference, if y'all don't know." It seemed like Winston had been waiting to drop that famous reference to the Broadway show, "Hamilton." He got the opportunity to do so on Wednesday, with Jaxson Dart already being ruled out for Sunday's game after suffering a concussion in the Giants' Week 10 loss to the Chicago Bears. In one of his first moves as interim coach, Mike Kafka opted to place Winston ahead of Russell Wilson on the depth chart this week as well, giving Winston the opportunity to start after serving as the third-string quarterback for the first 10 weeks of the year. Winston hasn't started a game since Dec. 15th of last season for the Cleveland Browns. In fact, he started seven games for the Browns, throwing for 2,038 yards, 12 touchdowns and 12 interceptions as they went 2-5. As a quarterback, Winston embodies the term gunslinger, often taking risks with downfield throws. It's the perfect spot for him to start as the Giants (2-8) have nothing to lose at this point in the season. Despite New York's record, don't count out the Giants in Week 11 against the 5-3-1 Packers. His exuberance has proven to be contagious in the past and could inspire his teammates. In a way, it's similar to Alexander Hamilton, whose unbounded ambition motivated troops during the Revolutionary War. Winston is known for his pre-game speeches and undying love for the game of football. "I get to be the quarterback for the New York Football Giants," Winston said. Surely, Winston is not throwing away his shot. Want great stories delivered right to your inbox? “I have this weird, horrible habit of writing things that come true,” playwright Alex Vickery-Howe tells InReview. A few years ago, Vickery-Howe wrote a play about the “far-fetched” premise that a novel disease might make the jump from animals to humans and cause all kinds of chaos. “I wouldn’t say I predicted Covid,” he says wryly. “[But] this can kind of happen, where you write something, and then the ground shifts under you, and you suddenly go, ‘Oh, everything that was speculative now feels like it’s after the fact’.” That play, Watchlist, was eventually mounted at The Bakehouse Theatre in 2021 to glowing reviews – “an ambitious comedy with a sharp message,” wrote InReview’s Murray Bramwell at the time. Now, Vickery-Howe is about to unveil a new work, Triggered, that arrives later this month with more uncomfortable prescience following the shooting of American conservative commentator Charlie Kirk in October. “The play opens with a gunshot,” Vickery-Howe explains. Its target is a right-wing provocateur and foil to the play’s other lead, a very online left-wing journalist. Initially written last year, the premise was inspired by the Vickery-Howe’s own experience writing online opinion columns for progressive outlets. “Since about 2021 I’ve been writing articles for various places like Independent Australia and New Matilda,” he says, “Very outspoken and very partisan.” When one outlet – which Vickery-Howe declines to name – asked him to file a piece he felt was ridiculing Trump supporters, he began to consider what he was actually adding to the discourse. Over a coffee with Mitchell Butel, the former State Theatre Company South Australia artistic director, an idea began to take root. “I said, ‘I want to write about political polarisation, and I want to write about the algorithm sort of wrenching us apart. And I want to question my own role in that process, because obviously, if you’re writing partisan op eds, you’re feeding into that white noise. I started asking myself, ‘Am I a good person, or is this a contribution that’s deeply unhelpful?’” Triggered uses multiple timelines to explore events before and after that opening gunshot, as Vickery-Howe pits a leftwing online journalist nicknamed ‘Good Mike’ against a right-wing comedian named ‘Rhino’. In a series of interviews that take place prior to the shooting, Mike and Rhino pick apart eachother’s worldviews and blindspots as their lives grow more entangled. In the aftermath’s of Rhino’s shooting, Mike is left to contemplate his own culpability. “The play, ultimately, is trying to present all of these different perspectives, but encourage what I would call real empathy… you know, when you actually look at the world through someone’s eyes, or try and understand your own blind spots. And no one ever quite wins, because I really hate plays that preach to an audience.” At 1pm on Sunday November 23 Triggered will be mounted in a one-afternoon-only staged reading at The Odeon Theatre in Norwood. Directed by Maeve Mhairi MacGregor with a full cast including Matt Crook (Top End Wedding), Jamie Hornsby, Grace Akimana, Patrick Frost, Jacqy Phillips and Noah Byrne, it’s the first of six new plays to be presented from November 23 to December 7 as part of State Theatre Company’s Great Australian Bites series. Other productions include Culture Slap from Alexis West, Spare a Thought for Jana Wendt (23 November), and Anthony Nocera’s Log Boy (December 7) – the latter already slated to make its mainstage appearance as part of State Theatre’s 2026 season. “I think it’s great that you’ve got a bunch of Adelaide writers who are getting a chance to throw something out there,” Vickery-Howe says of the initiative, which will see local actors work through each play script-in-hand. Someday, however, he does hope to see Triggered get a full production. “It’s fantastic to have development opportunities, but the question for the state is how to turn development into production. But it’s also very hard for artistic directors, because they’ve got big theatres to fill.” As for the coincidence of Kirk’s assassination at a Utah university campus? “My phone exploded, not just because I’m writing this play, but because everyone has an opinion – and everyone’s really fierce about their opinion,” Vickery-Howe reflects. “If he came to a campus where I was teaching, I would obviously have things to say. But I don’t think shooting someone is ever the answer. "My phone exploded, not just because I’m writing this play, but because everyone has an opinion – and everyone’s really fierce about their opinion." “But it just scares me that any flashpoint like that, we almost have a pre-ordered point of view – we’re not actually responding to what’s in front of us. And it’s not a big headline to say, ‘Well, algorithms are tearing us apart’, but I don’t know if, day to day, we really think about just how much that is happening.” Vickery-Howe says he’s a little nervous to present what he once thought was “very firmly in the realm of fiction”. “Now I feel like, bizarrely, we need to put a trigger warning on a play called Triggered because it’s sort of brushed against reality,” he reflects. “I should write more romantic comedies, I think.” Triggered by Alex Vickery-Howe will be performed at Odeon Theatre on Sunday November 23, 1pm, as part of Great Australian Bites presented by State Theatre Company South Australia

Thomas Tuchel Explains Why England's Best Players 'Cannot Play' Together

Thomas Tuchel faces some tough decisions ahead of next year's World Cup, with the England boss revealing some players will be omitted as they won't all fit into his playing system. The Three Lions head coach has warned a big-name trio they can't start a game together as he puts the final touches to his plans ahead of the tournament in the United States, Canada and Mexico. Many managers would love to enjoy the attacking options at Tuchel’s disposal. The German boss possesses a wealth of talent, but faces the challenge of harmonising them effectively. Harry Kane remains the central figure, though Tuchel must decide how best to integrate other stars. Phil Foden offers versatility, while rising talents like Morgan Rogers and Cole Palmer (injured in recent weeks) challenge for creative midfield spots. The competition for places means the final attacking line-up for the World Cup is far from settled. The relationship between Tuchel and midfielder Jude Bellingham has been a notable issue. Bellingham was controversially left out of the October squad, with Tuchel citing a need for rhythm and team cohesion. The manager has also publicly commented on Bellingham's aggressive on-field demeanour, suggesting it can be "repulsive" and must be channelled constructively. Bellingham was recalled for the November games, but the saga highlights the pressure on the young dynamo to adapt to Tuchel's structured approach. And that could mean heartbreak for certain stars, with the German tactician saying Kane, Bellingham and Foden "cannot play" together. Tuchel told talkSPORT: "At the moment, if we keep the structure, they cannot play. They can, but not in the structure, not for the balance that we developed. Not for the structure that also comes with wingers who are like specialists in their positions. At the moment, we play with a No. 6, a No. 8, a No. 10 and a No. 9. "There is a lot of congruence, especially in the No. 10 position, if you think about Phil can play there, you think about Jude, you think about Morgan Rogers who played fantastic for us in this position. You have Cole Palmer, you have Morgan Gibbs-White, so there are a lot of players, and there is the chance that we will not take everyone. Not because we don't like (them), not because they don't individually deserve it, but we will always do what's best for the team. We will always do what's best for winning, we will always do what's best for balance, and we will try to keep the clarity, even if it means that we have to take tough decisions. We take tough decisions in any camp, and this will not change when we go to a tournament." When asked if this decision puts Foden’s place under the most jeopardy, Tuchel replied: "Yes and no. If you're a unique player, you can play both positions. I think he can play the No.9, he can play the No.10, it gives him an advantage to compete for both positions. For Man City, he plays almost like a No.8/10, so maybe during the next months, we consider him as a No.8. But again, I see a very, very low percentage that we take five No.10s into a tournament, I don't see how this will help." England have already qualified for the 2026 World Cup after securing a first-place finish in Group K with two matches to spare. The Three Lions have so far gone unbeaten in their qualification campaign by winning all six of their games and have two final qualifiers coming up against Serbia at Wembley on Thursday and Albania in Tirana on Sunday.

U.S. markets end week on ,ixed note, techs rebound

NEW YORK, New York - U.S. stock markets were mixed in late afternoon trading on Friday, with gains in major technology names helping the Nasdaq rise, while the Dow Jones Industrial Average slipped and the S&P 500 held modestly higher. The Standard and Poor's 500 edged up 24.66 points, or 0.37 percent, to last trade at 6,762.15. The benchmark index traded between 6,646.87 and 6,774.31 during the session as investors weighed corporate earnings updates and fresh economic data. The Dow Jones Industrial Average moved lower, falling 169.77 points, or 0.36 percent, to 47,287.45. The blue-chip index fluctuated within a range of 46,863.05 to 47,380.07, pressured by declines in industrial and financial stocks. Meanwhile, the Nasdaq Composite outperformed, climbing 135.12 points, a gain of 0.59 percent, to reach 23,005.48, with less than an hour left to trade, supported by strength in semiconductor and software shares as traders rotated back into high-growth sectors. Investors continued to assess the outlook for interest rates and inflation while positioning ahead of key data releases scheduled for next week. Despite the mixed performance, overall market sentiment remained steady heading into the final hour of the trading week. U.S. Dollar To Ends Week Mixed as Major Currencies Drift in Cautious Friday Trade, Commodity Currncies Edge Up The U.S. dollar traded in Friday's session with a mixed performance against major global currencies, as traders weighed fresh economic data and awaited clearer signals on the outlook for interest rates heading into year-end. The euro weakened modestly, with the EUR/USD pair slipping to 1.1617, a decline of 0.13 percent in late afternoon trading, as softer regional indicators dampened sentiment across the eurozone. Against the Japanese currency, the U.S. dollar edged slightly higher, with USD/JPY rising 0.02 percent to 154.53, reflecting continued yen softness amid Japan's persistently accommodative monetary stance. The greenback also fell slightly against the Canadian dollar, with USD/CAD easing 0.05 percent to 1.4027, supported by stable crude oil prices and firmer Canadian economic figures. Jahmyr Gibbs Reveals He Has Extra Motivation Facing Saquon Barkley in Lions vs. Eagles

Sunday's showdown between the Philadelphia Eagles and Detroit Lions could be a playoff preview and important for postseason positioning, but Jahmyr Gibbs will also be motivated to win the battle among running backs. "I've always been a fan of Saquon [Barkley] since I was in high school," Gibbs said Thursday of his motivation, per ESPN's Eric Woodyard. "Yeah, competitive nature. That's always gonna do that. Whoever says no is lying." Barkley and Gibbs are two of the best running backs in the league, but the former was the clear gold standard for the position last season. He helped lead the Eagles to the Super Bowl title with a league-best 2,005 rushing yards and 15 total touchdowns as the Offensive Player of the Year. He also finished third in MVP voting and was a First-Team All-Pro selection. However, Barkley has not been as effective in 2025. He is averaging 3.9 yards per carry after posting 5.8 a year ago and has six total touchdowns. By comparison, Gibbs is averaging 5.4 yards per carry and has 10 total touchdowns as one of the go-to options in Detroit's offense. Ultimately, winning will be the most important outcome for each of the first-place teams. But Gibbs' honesty about wanting to outshine someone he has long admired is refreshing, especially since they are two of the top playmakers in the NFL. Doing so against an Eagles defense that is 10th in the league in points allowed per game and fresh off a dominant performance in a 10-7 victory against the Green Bay Packers will be easier said than done, but he will be plenty motivated for the matchup.

Browns OC Defends Dillon Gabriel amid Criticism, 'Nobody's Gonna Bat a Thousand

Cleveland Browns rookie quarterback Dillon Gabriel has had his fair share of struggles this year, but offensive coordinator Tommy Rees came to his defense on Thursday. Rees said Gabriel "grades out pretty high" in terms of being where he needs to be and seeing the right things on the field. "Nobody's gonna bat a thousand. Certainly I don't bat a thousand calling it," he told reporters. "Nobody's going to bat a thousand in really anything they do. But I would say he grades out where we want him." Gabriel, a third-round pick out of Oregon, started the year playing behind Joe Flacco but earned the starting gig in October. In seven games, he's thrown for 869 yards, seven touchdowns and a pair of interceptions. Last week in a loss to the New York Jets, he had 167 passing yards and two touchdowns, managing to avoid any turnovers. Browns head coach Kevin Stefanski confirmed last week that Gabriel would remain the starter over fellow rookie Shedeur Sanders, adding that he wants to give the young player the chance to continue growing. "Obviously this is a young player that you're always trying to get one game better... we have to play better as an offense," he told reporters on Sunday. "We have to coach better, all the above."

Doug Christie 'F--king Embarrassed' About 'Shameful' Kings Effort in Loss to Hawks

The Sacramento Kings lost to the Atlanta Hawks on Wednesday night, 133-100, dropping to 3-9 on the season after a fourth straight loss by double-digits. As you might imagine, head coach Doug Christie was not pleased with what he described as a "shameful" effort. "I was embarrassed," he told reporters after the contest. "I wish I could've put on the jersey. At 55, I would've showed you better than that. At least I'm going to use all six fouls. I can't move, but I'm going to foul the s--t out of somebody." "Put on a jersey, represent it properly," he added. "... I'm f--king embarrassed. Unacceptable. Period. It is. This is a simple one. This ain't even hard. Sometimes you come up here and you try and figure out, 'Well, you know, maybe I go look back and look at [the tape].' I don't need to look at no tape. Probably won't look at it. I've seen it once live. Damn if you want to look at it again, but I will." The Kings had a 12-point second quarter during Wednesday's loss, were out-rebounded 45-35, gave up 33 fast-break points and shot just 39.1 percent from the field. It wasn't pretty, and Christie wasn't about to mince words on the matter.

What Is Garrett Wilson's Timeline for Return to Jets from Knee Injury?

What Is Garrett Wilson's Timeline for Return to Jets from Knee Injury?

The New York Jets will be without their star wide receiver for a handful of games. The team announced Thursday that Garrett Wilson has been placed on injured reserve, meaning he'll have to miss at least four games. Wilson suffered a knee sprain in Sunday's win over the Cleveland Browns. Wilson has had a frustrating 2025 season amid multiple injuries. The fourth-year receiver out of Ohio State missed Weeks 7 and 8 against the Carolina Panthers and Cincinnati Bengals after suffering a hyperextended knee against the Denver Broncos. Luckily, he avoided a serious injury, but still had to spend some time on the sidelines. He returned to action last week against the Browns, but saw three targets and no receptions before exiting with the knee sprain. ESPN's Rich Cimini reported that Wilson won't need knee surgery, which is a silver lining in what has been a forgetful season. In seven games, Wilson has recorded 36 receptions for 395 yards and four touchdowns. That's far from his typical production, as he's started his career with three consecutive seasons with 1,000-plus receiving yards. The Jets committed to Wilson this offseason, giving him a four-year, $130 million contract extension that ties him to the franchise through 2030. They doubled down on their commitment earlier this month when they opted not to trade Wilson despite dealing a handful of key players like Sauce Gardner and Quinnen Williams. Even though New York is fully in rebuild mode, it clearly views the 25-year-old Wilson as a key piece of its future. The Jets have won back-to-back games but are still far from playoff contention at 2-7. They'll look to salvage what is left of the season by picking up a few more wins, though that task becomes more difficult without Wilson on the field.

MLS Owners Approve Schedule Change, What to Know About New Format, Start Date

The MLS will soon be mirroring the schedule of the top European football leagues. According to The Athletic's Paul Tenorio, the league's owners voted to begin the calendar in July and have the season run through May starting in 2027. That wasn't the only matter on the table. Per that report, "league owners also voted to update the regular season format. The playoff format is still in discussion. The league will move to a single-table competition, but will also have five six-team divisions beginning in 2027, according to sources, though league executives declined to go into detail on the new format." Onramp Launches Industry-First Multi-Institution Bitcoin IRA

The only Bitcoin IRA offering true on-chain ownership, institutional-grade security, and seamless inheritance built in. DALLAS, TX / ACCESS Newswire / November 13, 2025 / Onramp, the bitcoin custody platform pioneering Multi-Institution Custody (MIC), today announced the public launch of its Bitcoin IRA - the first retirement account secured by three independent institutional keyholders, rather than a single custodian. Bitcoin IRAs allow investors to combine bitcoin's long-term upside with the tax advantages of a retirement account. Until now, investors were forced to choose between single-custodian risk or complex self-custody setups. Onramp's model eliminates both. Each IRA vault is secured through Onramp's multi-institution network, ensuring no single point of failure and no unilateral access by any party - including Onramp itself. 'If you're already required by law to have a custodian, why not have three?' said Michael Tanguma, CEO of Onramp. 'We designed the Onramp Bitcoin IRA to deliver the same level of redundancy and governance used by endowments and pension funds - but available to individual investors for the first time.' Built for Security, Designed for Legacy Each Onramp Bitcoin IRA is: Protected by three independent institutions under Onramp's Multi-Institution Custody architecture. Capable of in-kind transfers and withdrawals, allowing Bitcoin to move without liquidation or taxable events. Low-fee and transparent, with trading costs well below the 1-4% charged by most competitors. Inheritance-ready, allowing beneficiaries or trusts to receive Bitcoin securely and compliantly. Auditable and verifiable on-chain, providing real proof of ownership rather than ETF-style exposure. Onramp's IRA infrastructure is established in partnership with qualified custodians and insured by underwriters at Lloyd's of London, meeting all requirements under IRS Code Section 408. Taking Market Share from a Fragmented Industry Today, the majority of Bitcoin IRAs are either exchange-linked or single-custodian structures - leaving investors exposed to the same concentration risks that have plagued traditional finance. Onramp's MIC model introduces redundant custody and decentralized governance to an asset class built on those very principles. 'Competitors are still selling exposure,' said Brian Cubellis, Chief Strategy Officer at Onramp. 'Onramp clients own real Bitcoin in dedicated vaults - visible on-chain, insured, and inheritance-ready. We're not another exchange wrapper. We're the future of retirement custody.' Available Now with No Rollover Fees Through Q4 Investors can open an Onramp Bitcoin IRA directly through the IRA landing page or roll over an existing IRA or 401(k) without incurring taxes or fees through Q4 2025. The launch comes amid rising demand from investors seeking inflation-resistant, tax-efficient assets that align with Bitcoin's long-term thesis. About OnrampOnramp builds institutional-grade Bitcoin infrastructure for individuals, businesses, and advisors. Its Multi-Institution Custody (MIC) model distributes key control across three independent entities, eliminating single-point-of-failure risk while maintaining compliance, insurance, and on-chain transparency.
